We are seeking a full-time Software Developer.

  • Candidates within commuting distance to the Reston office and open to a hybrid schedule are preferred, but we may consider remote candidates.

Summary

Reporting to SVP, Chief Technology Officer, Software Developer will work on creating new and supporting existing software solutions within the Guidance Residential portfolio of businesses. Follow rapid prototype and proof of concept approach in capturing business requirements and deliver deployable production ready software applications. Engage in the full range of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). To be successful in this position will require intelligence, creativity, strong technical knowledge, quality consciousness and passion for continuous learning. Collaborate with other members, to provide an IT environment that is enjoyable. The position will be a perfect fit for self-motivated & energetic person with excellent programming skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software that delivers quality, performance, supportability, and high availability applications. Engage in peer reviews of code, strong QA and Testing Methodology

  • Maintain a good habit of documenting requirements, technical design & code.

  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems. Make decisions on issues that needs escalation. Own issues until resolution.

  • Proactively communicate with manager on priorities, solution approach and progress status.

  • The position involves direct interaction with end-users, effective communication and collaboration with end-users is essential.

  • Collaborate with other members of IT and contribute to overall advancement of the IT org.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering and/or equivalent
Full-stack development experience in PHP, LAMP, JavaScript, MySql, jQuery. Other important skills to have JSON, XML, Git, Elasticsearch, SugarCRM, CSS, Vue.js, AWS
Strong experience with the Laravel framework
2-4 years industry experience in web-based development (Web apps, web services, SaaS)
3+ years of experience acting as a team or tech lead role, designing and implementing complex tech solutions.
Strong knowledge and experience with CI/CD process
Strong knowledge of REST API
Experience in residential mortgage and real estate industry is highly valued
Hands-on experience in creating solutions using MVC framework and multi-tiered architecture
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and ability to focus on results
Ability to work in an agile development model
Keen sense for cost savings, resource utilization, understanding dependencies, and planning
