Job description

DEPARTMENT:

Technology: Product IT

POSITION:

Full-Stack Engineer

REPORTS TO:

Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES:

None

JOB CLASS:

Exempt

PURPOSE:

We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join our product engineering team. You'll work across the stack — from frontend interfaces to backend services — building features and systems that directly improve the health journey of our participants.

This isn't a heads-down, ticket-taking role. We're looking for someone who thinks beyond the immediate task: someone who asks "why" before jumping to "how," and who's excited to grow into owning technical design decisions. You'll work closely with our engineering manager and collaborate with the team to shape how we build — not just what we build.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build and maintain features across our full stack (PHP, Vue, React Native, AWS Serverless)
  • Collaborate on Technical Requirements Documents (TDRs) and contribute to system design discussions
  • Participate in architecture decisions and help evaluate trade-offs as our systems evolve
  • Write clean, testable code and participate in thorough code reviews
  • Partner with product and design to translate user needs into thoughtful technical solutions
  • Leverage agentic AI workflows to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance your productivity
  • Help improve our development processes, tooling, and documentation over time

What Success Looks Like:

  • In your first 30 days: You're onboarded, shipping small PRs, reviewing your team’s PRs, and building context on our systems and codebase.
  • By 90 days: You're independently owning features end-to-end and actively contributing to TRDs and design conversations.
  • By 6 months: You're a go-to contributor on the team — proposing technical approaches, identifying system-level improvements, and helping raise the bar for the team.

Why Wondr:

  • Mission that matters. The code you write directly affects people's health outcomes.
  • Fully remote. Work from wherever you do your best thinking.
  • Growth opportunity. You'll have a clear path from strong mid-level contributor to senior engineer with system design ownership.
  • Collaborative culture. Small team, low ego, high trust.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technology field preferred but not required.

Required:

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience across frontend and backend
  • Solid working experience with at least two of: PHP, Vue, React Native, AWS Serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • Comfort working across the full stack — you don't need to be an expert in everything, but you're willing to go wherever the problem takes you
  • Experience contributing to or writing technical documentation (TDRs, design docs, ADRs, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills — you can explain your thinking clearly to both technical and non-technical teammates
  • A systems-thinking mindset: you consider how pieces fit together, not just the piece in front of you
  • Experience with or enthusiasm for agentic AI workflows (e.g., AI-assisted coding, automated testing, prompt-driven development) — this is part of how we work at Wondr.

Preferred:

  • Experience with health tech, wellness platforms, or mission-driven products
  • Familiarity with mobile development workflows (React Native in particular)
  • Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small technical initiatives
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps practices

GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office working conditions can be remote from home or in the office. Each department head determines if position is work from home or hybrid meaning works from home and in the office as needed. Work schedules vary.
