SOFTWARE DEVELOPER PRINCIPAL

  • Education: Related Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 7+ years of related experience
  • Location: Fully remote - East Coast core hours M-F 9am-4pm
  • Clearance: Current Public Trust Preferred
  • Required Technical Skills and experience:
    • Must be AWS Certified
    • Strong hands-on experience in full stack development with back-end services and implementing capabilities to support web applications using microservices.
    • Experience and evidence of proactive and clear communicating with business stakeholders.
    • Experience taking ownership of code changes to meet user needs- evaluates current systems to develop solutions to stakeholder challenges, and applies a user-centric mindset in analysis and implementation.
    • 7+ years of Java/J2EE (Java 19 or higher preferred) work experience
    • 7+ Spring Boot experience - Building and coding backend applications and/or models using Spring/Spring Boot framework
    • Java Rest API's / Microservices
    • Angular 19+
    • 5+ years of AWS experience with ECS (Building docker images and deploying them in cluster) ECR (Docker)
    • 2+ years of Oracle 19 (SQL and PL/SQL) and/or PostgreSQL experience - ability to write and understand SQL queries
    • Experience in federal Agile, remote environments using tools like Rally or Jira
    • Terraforms and Gitlab pipeline configuration

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modernize applications, including migration to cloud environments.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum teams, using Rally to manage and update user stories and tasks throughout 3week sprints.
  • Analyze and implement user stories to meet functional and non-functional requirements accurately.
  • Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive unit tests to ensure performance, reliability, and a consistent user experience.
  • Enforce unit testing and code coverage standards before commits/merges in GitLab to reduce defects.
  • Implement and maintain reusable, standardized components to improve development efficiency and UX consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, testers, product owners, and stakeholders) to deliver high-quality software.
  • Attend and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives).
  • Complete sprint tasks on time with minimal defects, proactively communicating status and blockers.
  • Demonstrate completed work, obtain acceptance for user stories/defects, and incorporate feedback each sprint.
  • Monitor and respond to emails and team communications promptly.
  • Partner with the team to identify, prevent, and resolve defects before production release.
  • Share technical and domain knowledge to mentor teammates and strengthen overall team capability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts, frameworks, and tools to support continuous testing.
  • Create and execute test plans ensuring thorough coverage, traceability, and alignment with requirements.
  • Implement and execute performance tests to identify and help remediate performance bottlenecks.
  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases and gaps in coverage.
  • Analyze test results, document defects, and work closely with application teams to drive timely resolution.
The likely salary range for this position is $122,400 - $165,600. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee's date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
