What is a remote full stack developer?

A Remote Full Stack Developer is a software professional who works from a location outside of a traditional office, building and maintaining both the front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) components of web applications. They are skilled in a variety of programming languages and frameworks, enabling them to handle the full technology stack required for web development. Working remotely, they collaborate with teams using digital tools, manage code repositories, and often participate in virtual meetings to ensure project goals are met efficiently.

What does a remote full stack developer do?

As a remote full stack developer, you work from home to create back-end and front-end code for software, websites, and other technology applications. Your responsibilities include developing website architecture, helping to create a website application, developing and designing APIs, and ensuring that applications have the right level of responsiveness. Common duties associated with this job include working on a database or server to ensure functionality, creating web design features by working with graphic designers, helping to transform a concept into a finished product, and staying updated with the latest programming languages and web applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote full stack developer?

To thrive as a Remote Full Stack Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python, or Java), web frameworks, and a solid understanding of database management. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines is typically required, along with relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Microsoft Azure certifications. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and time management skills are essential for collaborating across distributed teams and managing independent workloads. These competencies enable developers to build robust, scalable applications efficiently while maintaining productivity and effective teamwork in a remote environment.

How do remote full stack developers typically collaborate with team members across different time zones?

Remote Full Stack Developers often work with colleagues located around the globe, making strong communication skills and adaptability essential. Teams usually rely on collaboration tools like Slack, Jira, and GitHub to track progress, discuss features, and conduct code reviews asynchronously. Regular virtual meetings are scheduled to accommodate time zone differences, and clear documentation helps ensure everyone stays aligned. Job description

About PactFi

Private asset markets (PE, Private Credit, VC, Real Estate) have 10x to 9.8T in AUM over the past decade and are projected to grow to $17T in the next five years. However, digital infrastructure has not kept pace, with most of the market operating predominantly in error-prone, internal-only software solutions.

PactFi provides secure, end-to-end, operational infrastructure for managing complex private credit transactions. Our web-based application brings together all parties involved in such a transaction to more efficiently allocate capital, complete KYC, share documents, manage funds flow, and more. The platform is secured to a bank-grade standard, and we have received our SOC 2 Type 2 attestation.

PactFi was developed in close partnership with two of the industry's largest players, both of whom represent the top 3 players in the private credit space by both size (AUM) and deal activity.

PactFi is looking for a Full Stack Engineer to help build and ship features across our platform. You'll work primarily in our Laravel codebase, with regular front-end work in Vue.js, on products that move real money for our partners and their clients.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer with a couple of years under their belt who wants to grow quickly. You'll own features end to end with support from senior engineers, and you'll get direct exposure to product, QA, and engineering leadership rather than working from a ticket queue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and ship features in our Laravel application, from database schema through API endpoints to the Vue.js interface.

  • Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate actively in code review.

  • Integrate with third-party APIs and internal services, handling errors, retries, and edge cases thoughtfully.

  • Work with Product Managers and QA to clarify requirements, break down work, and get features to production.

  • Debug and resolve issues across the stack, including performance and data-integrity problems.

  • Contribute to improving our tooling, tests, and development workflow.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of professional software development experience.

  • Working experience with Laravel (or another modern MVC framework, with genuine interest in Laravel).

  • Solid PHP fundamentals and comfort with object-oriented design.

  • Front-end experience with Vue.js, React, or similar, plus solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Practical SQL skills and experience designing and querying relational databases (MySQL or similar).

  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and code review.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, and a willingness to ask questions early.

Nice to Have

  • Experience writing automated tests (Playwright, or similar).

  • Exposure to AWS or another cloud platform.

  • Experience with queues, background jobs, or event-driven workflows.

  • Interest in fintech, financial services, or regulated environments.

  • Any hands-on experience with LLM APIs or AI-assisted features.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary + equity.

  • Healthcare coverage.

  • 401k

Compensation Range: $185K - $200K
