They are skilled in a variety of programming languages and frameworks, enabling them to handle the full technology stack required for web development. Working remotely, they collaborate with teams using digital tools, manage code repositories, and often participate in virtual meetings to ensure project goals are met efficiently.

What does a remote full stack developer do?

As a remote full stack developer, you work from home to create back-end and front-end code for software, websites, and other technology applications. Job description

Lead Software Engineer
About gWorks:
gWorks builds software that helps small local governments work better. Our clients are public servants, city clerks, utility billing staff, public works teams, and county administrators. These are the folks who keep their communities running smoothly. Their work is essential, but often constrained by outdated tools.

We fix that. Our cloud-based platform replaces legacy systems with simple, integrated software built specifically for small governments. We serve thousands of communities nationwide, streamlining operations, improving service delivery, and making day-to-day work more manageable.
We’re consolidating several acquired products into one platform and guiding our clients through this transition. It’s complex, important work that requires a team that can execute at a high level to help drive that transformation.
The Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer at gWorks, you are at the forefront of designing, refining, and expanding our core product capabilities. Your role is crucial in driving the technological innovation that supports our mission to empower thousands of small local governments across the United States. With a strong background in software development and a deep understanding of .NET web applications deployed on AWS, you embody the analytical, inquisitive, and solution-oriented mindset that defines our elite "A-Team" of engineers.
Your contributions extend beyond coding; you are a visionary who guides the architectural integrity and implementation quality of our solutions. Through collaboration with a dynamic team of engineers, QA specialists, designers, and product owners, you ensure our software products are executed with precision, adhering to the highest standards of design and coding practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Employ your extensive software engineering skills to lead development projects, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal teams and outsourced resources to advance product quality, security, and development, maintaining clear communication and effective coordination.
  • Performance Optimization: Develop solutions that are highly available and optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Lifecycle Management: Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and requirements definition through development, testing, and QA.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address system issues, implement fixes, and document solutions to prevent future problems.
  • Legacy Migration: Assist in transitioning and migrating legacy applications to modern SaaS products, supporting the evolution of our cloud-native platform.
  • Technical Leadership: Drive technical execution on strategic projects, contributing to the development of our emerging cloud-native platform.
What You'll Bring:
  • Technical Expertise: More than 5 years of experience in software development, with proficiency in C#.NET MVC, Angular, and microservices architectures.
  • Cloud Platform Proficiency: Experience with deploying solutions to AWS cloud services.
  • Agile Development: Demonstrated ability in scalable cloud-based development using Agile CI/CD methodologies.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working with near-shore and off-shore contractors, remote employees, and fostering a strong team culture.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication and organizational abilities, capable of managing large projects and contributing to a cohesive team environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the foresight to address issues before they impact productivity.
  • Adaptability: Versatility in programming languages, technical stacks, and tools is highly regarded.
What Success Looks Like:
In this role, your innovation, technical expertise, and leadership will directly influence the growth and success of gWorks’ solutions. By delivering cutting-edge software that meets the needs of small local governments, you play a pivotal role in enabling public leaders to build smarter, stronger communities. Your dedication to excellence, continuous improvement, and collaborative spirit are integral to our collective mission and the ongoing enhancement of our software platform.
Where You’ll Work:
  • Omaha-based? You'll follow our hybrid model: work remotely with in-office collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Remote? You’ll be fully supported to work from anywhere in the U.S. We prioritize connected, accountable teams — no matter where you're located
Compensation amp; Benefits:
  • Base Salary Range: $150,000-$180,000
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible PTO and paid holidays
  • A collaborative team culture that values autonomy, growth, and execution
Equal Opportunity Employer:
gWorks is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
