Job description

Join our team as an Associate Project Manager (APM) supporting Major Project initiatives. You'll play a vital role in delivering innovative utility projects that power communities and promote sustainability. The APM supports the delivery of natural gas utility capital projects by coordinating project initiation, planning, design progression, construction readiness, and closeout activities. Working under the direction of a Project Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining project controls, supporting stage-gate (Tollgate) processes, and ensuring accurate documentation, tracking, and compliance across internal systems and programs.
This role is highly execution-focused and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn internal systems and processes. Whether you're early in your career or looking to grow into a leadership role, this position offers hands-on experience with transmission, distribution, substation, underground, and grid modernization projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Support planning and execution of complex electrical utility projects
  • Support communication across engineering, ROW, supply chain, and construction teams
  • Track project progress and assist with documentation, permitting, and compliance
  • Input and track project commitments, milestones, and deliverables
  • Support monthly actuals and cost tracking (high-value support activity)
  • Support Tollgate (Stage Gate) processes and required deliverables
  • Support construction activities, including tracking punch list items
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and stakeholder communications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility, infrastructure, capital or construction projects
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and navigate project systems and tools quickly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and safety standards
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to travel to and work onsite as needed

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting gas utility or pipeline projects
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle delivery (initiation through closeout)
  • Experience with project management or project controls tools (e.g., Trimble, SAP, Primavera, or similar)
  • Exposure to regulatory or compliance requirements (e.g., PHMSA)

Benefits & Salary:
  • This position pays between $85,000 and $120,000 annually and is an exempt position. Salary will be tailored to experience and background.
  • Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually.
  • Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours.
  • May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
