Job Overview:
The Senior Manager, IT Solutions - Safety & Asset Protection serves as the strategic technology partner for the Safety and Asset Protection organizations. This role is responsible for leading the technology portfolio supporting food safety, product recalls, traceability, regulatory compliance, risk management, and asset protection capabilities.
This position utilizes deep experience in partnering with Safety, Quality, Compliance, and Supply Chain organizations. Will work closely with business stakeholders and enterprise technology teams to define strategy, drive digital transformation, and ensure reliable, secure, and compliant technology solutions that support critical operational and regulatory objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the technology strategy and roadmap for food safety, product recall, and traceability capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs leaders to ensure technology solutions support end-to-end product traceability, recall readiness, compliance reporting, and risk management.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of technology solutions supporting product recalls, food traceability, quality management, supplier quality, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Ensure systems and processes enable rapid identification, investigation, containment, and reporting of product quality and safety events.
  • Serve as the primary IT partner to Safety and Asset Protection leadership, aligning technology initiatives with business priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps supporting safety, food safety, recall management, traceability, compliance, risk management, and asset protection capabilities.
  • Lead a portfolio of projects, enhancements, and operational support activities, ensuring effective prioritization, governance, and delivery.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve compliance, operational effectiveness, risk mitigation, and data-driven decision making through technology solutions.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for applications, integrations, reporting, and data solutions supporting Safety and Asset Protection functions.
  • Ensure technology solutions support regulatory requirements, audit readiness, product traceability, recall preparedness, and business continuity objectives.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics, and external vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.
  • Support Asset Protection initiatives through technology solutions related to loss prevention, investigations, incident management, physical security, fraud detection, and analytics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Education / Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Preferred
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, Agile, SAFe, or ITIL.

Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience with responsibility for enterprise business applications, technology delivery, and business engagement.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing teams, vendors, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Risk Management, or related business functions.
  • Experience implementing, supporting, or managing enterprise technology solutions that enable product recall management, food traceability, quality management, regulatory compliance, supplier quality, audit management, or incident management.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to define strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of application delivery, systems integration, technology governance, and vendor management.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with commercial Food Safety, Recall Management, Traceability, Quality Management, or EHS platforms.
  • Experience supporting Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, Physical Security, Investigations, Fraud Prevention, or related business functions.
  • Experience working in retail, healthcare, food and beverage, consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, or other highly regulated industries.

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
  • Deep knowledge in implementing, enhanced, or supported technology platforms that enable product recall management, food traceability, quality management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership skills that include guiding and coaching direct and indirect team members.
  • Communication skills that include senior leadership audiences, influence and negotiation.
  • Knowledge in best practice in managing technology platforms and portfolio.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to create process and process design where none or little exists.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:
Remote Role
  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
