Work Environment

As a remote position based in Garland, Texas, this role allows you the flexibility to operate in your own ideal work environment while still collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting therapy sessions both in the community and virtually, allowing for personalized interaction tailored to each family's needs. Our outpatient office setting ensures that you are equipped with the support and resources needed to thrive in your role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for children and adolescents in their home or in an outpatient setting, adjusting your therapeutic approach based on their unique needs.
  • Employ methods focused on anger management, social skills development, and coping techniques to mitigate high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers to enhance decision-making skills that aid in the management of behavioral challenges at home.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Child Family Treatment Team and other professionals, ensuring an integrated approach to care and support.
  • Document all necessary paperworkโ€”including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notesโ€”within specified timeframes to ensure compliance and seamless service delivery.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings to discuss case progress and share insights that may enhance service delivery.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on children and young adults aged 3 to 20 who are facing various developmental and intellectual disabilities. By providing specialized therapeutic support, you will play an integral role in fostering their emotional, social, and cognitive development. Your bilingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese will further enhance our service reach and effectiveness within diverse communities.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a closely related field is a prerequisite.
  • Possession of an active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during critical after-school hours, specifically from 4 PM to 7 PM, with additional weekend flexibility being highly valued.
  • Strong foundational experience in providing positive behavioral support techniques.
  • A clean driverโ€™s license and access to a registered vehicle are necessary for travel to in-home locations.
  • A successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience working with children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) is highly beneficial.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively and build rapport with clients from varied backgrounds.
Compensation and Benefits
