Job description

At NorthBay Healthcare the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for and has the authority to deliver nutrition care according to the philosophy, policies, and goals/objectives of the Nutrition Department.  The Dietitian assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nutritional processes for individual patient care. 

The Registered Dietitian makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward nutrition goals and utilizes a professional relationship with the patient and family to facilitate those goals.  The Dietitian modifies and delivers care specific to the specific behaviors/needs of the pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient with in the scope of service of the Nutrition Department, including nutrition care of patients in Intensive Care, Stepdown, Medical, Surgical, and Emergency areas, as well as various outpatient areas within the system. 

Compensation: Posted min and max rates include a per diem differential

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

REQUIRED:

  • B.S. degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.  

  • Completion of Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)-approved or accredited internship with emphasis on clinical nutrition. 

  • Currently Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. (Registered Dietitian Eligible is also acceptable if the Commission on Dietetic Registration Exam is scheduled and RD status is obtained within 60 days of hire).

  • At least one-year clinical experience in an acute care hospital or completion of CDR-accredited internship with emphasis on clinical nutrition. 

  • Applies the nutrition care process in providing care.  Capable of working independently and applying time management effectively.  Requires written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
