Job Overview
The Director, Media Planning leads media strategy development, audience planning, and yield optimization for Macy's Media Network. This leader brings deep expertise in media planning and yield management and effectively manages a team of media planners and inventory analysts. They demonstrate relentless curiosity and translate complex details into targeted media solutions and revenue-maximizing strategies. They also excel at leading people and projects in a fast-paced environment while driving strong business results.
What You Will Do
  • Lead and develop a team of media planners responsible for creating integrated media plans that support strategic sales proposals. Provide guidance on placement recommendations that align with advertiser KPIs, campaign objectives, and proven performance insights. Ensure plans span all onsite and offsite media offerings while optimizing both campaign outcomes and profit margins.
  • Establish and maintain effective planning and proposal processes across Media Planning and Sales to ensure all deadlines, deliverables, and client commitments are met.
  • Advance audience segmentation and audience enrichment strategies to strengthen targeting capabilities and improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving media capabilities to ensure Macy's Media Network remains a leader in audience targeting and media strategy.
  • Define and drive the strategy for curated private marketplaces (PMPs) to maximize advertiser value and revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct inventory analysis and forecasting across advertising platforms to support planning, pricing, and revenue optimization.
  • Lead yield management initiatives to maximize advertising revenue and inventory performance across channels.
  • Apply quantitative analysis to identify value-maximizing inventory allocation and monetization strategies.
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify pricing and revenue opportunities and provide recommendations to the Head of Advertising Operations on rate card optimization and pricing strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with Ad Operations to ensure media plans are operationally sound, effectively integrated, and flawlessly executed.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Sales organization by providing training, guidance, and best practices related to audience targeting, media strategy, fill-rate optimization, and CPM growth opportunities.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and coach media planning and yield optimization talent, building a scalable, high-performing team that supports business growth.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Who You Are
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 8-10 years of Media Planning experience within a digital media environment. 2-3 years of experience in Yield Management.
  • This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
