Job description

Senior Sales Representative

This position will cover the Midwest and the ideal candidate will be located in Wisconsin or Minnesota

Responsible for managing the relationship and business with designated retailers and distributors in the region.  Growing both sales volume and gross margin contribution of FGI brands. Emphasis on planning, training, and selling up the value ladder. Make targeted grower and dairy sales calls through and with channel partners. This role is remote/virtual and will work from a home based office in a territory of the upper Midwest, ideally located in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Sales Generation

  • Deliver industry best customer experience through well planned, meaningful face-to-face interaction with target accounts, growers, and dairies
  • Market and position FGI’s product ladder to increase trait conversion and business share
  • Train designated accounts to position and sell FGI branded alfalfa seed and traits
  • Business and relationship managemen
  • Manage relationships with dealers & distributors to achieve company goal
  • Manage customer orders, replants, stewardship/GPOS data, program reconciliation
  • Resolve conflicts between dealers promptly and equitably
  • Provide regional agronomic support
  • Work through and with channel partners to complete on-farm grower and dairy sales calls
  • Understand and communicate FGI value proposition, pricing, and programs to designated dealers 

Strategy and Business Execution

  • Deliver on sales targets and sales activities goals
  • Manage expenses to budget
  • Develop Territory Plans
    • Growth opportunities and trait conversion
  • Co-author business and sales execution plans with designated accounts
    • Growth and trait mix goals
    • Grower and Dairy Targets (on-farm calls)
    • Forecasting and product phasing
  • Proactively communicate and execute seasonal marketing programs, initiatives, and offers with customers
  • Utilize digital tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness of sales efforts
    • Power BI:  Business progress, gap reports, opportunity identification, customer planning
    • Evolve:  Efficient order entry
    • Salesforce:  Sales activity measurement, internal communication, marketing campaign delivery
  • Product phasing and forecasting
    • Drive 4th quarter planning, forecasting, order, and shipping activities
    • Communicate local knowledge to inform internal forecasting and production
  • Promote activities that support strategic imperatives including operational efficiency,
  • Internal Collaboration
    • Purposefully engage in internal communication opportunities, projects, and cross functional business activities

Required Experience/Knowledge:  

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably Crop Science or related, and 5+ years successful sales experience in seed or crop inputs or marketing with customer contact; or equivalent work experience (10+ years)
  • Proven ability to interact well with customers, suppliers, employees, and management of all levels. 
  • Desire and know-how to make grower calls with customer sales staff and coach successfully to sell FGI products
  • Ability to learn FGI alfalfa features and benefits, and use knowledge to provide sales/marketing support and training
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SalesForce.com
  • Proven ability to solve and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to create and present interesting, informative, and educational product presentations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. May include daily travel, extended hours and overnight travel

Additional Competencies: Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, solid decision-making abilities, time management skills and good verbal and written communicator.

Salary range: $93,360 - $140,040 (in most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges)
