The primary duties of this position are:
- Supervises a crew size ranging from 8 to 12 members in five distinct trades/crafts employees involved in both single craft and multi-craft work projects.
- Determines the requirements for and schedules manpower, tools, equipment, facilities, and materials on a project-by-project basis, prepares long-term maintenance schedules that adhere to work priorities and requirements established by higher-level supervisors and technical guidance.
- Prepares detailed schedules on a job-to-job basis for a broad range of activities and projects, follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments, and identifies major jobs or job sequences to facilitate stakeholder coordination and communication.
- Coordinates maintenance schedules and system outages with partner agencies to assure a broad integration of activities, coordinates with other maintenance and operations supervisors within the Area Office to plan and support maintenance team activities at other major facilities, recommends changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and makes minor deviations in procedures or redirect resources under direct control to overcome problems such as equipment failure, material delays, or unplanned absences.
- Assigns individual employees to work crews as required to execute planned work, assigns work to individuals or work crews as required to execute planned work activities, ensures assignments are made in accordance with agency policies and regulations, the negotiated labor agreement, and all other applicable laws and regulations.
- Provides technical direction in identifying correct methods, procedures, and allowable tolerances in repairing, rebuilding, or maintaining facility components and features, and ensures adherence to Reclamation technical requirements or engineering specifications.
- Ensures the safety of all personnel, as well as contract or other personnel undertaking civil maintenance activities, promotes continual safety awareness and conducts weekly safety and daily crew meetings for work status and safety, ensures adherence to all established safety practices and requirements and that jobs are performed in a safe manner.
- Supports and explains management programs to subordinates, recommends performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance standards, selecting the most suitable applicants for vacancies, and maintaining work reports and records while assisting supervisors in planning overall leave schedules.

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

Additional informationCondition of Employment For Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
