Job description

Position Overview

Join our team as a Remote Mental Health Counselor at the First Responder Mental Health Clinic, where you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to a diverse client base. This full-time position is designed for licensed professionals who are passionate about mental health and seeking a flexible work environment through remote therapy sessions. With a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 to 100,000 per year, this role aims to deliver impactful care to those in need while avoiding the overhead associated with running a private practice.

About the Organization

The First Responder Mental Health Clinic, located in Oakland, California, is dedicated to supporting first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel, who face unique mental health challenges. Our clinic focuses on providing specialized, evidence-based therapy that addresses trauma, stress, and other challenges that this demographic encounters in their line of work. We utilize a telehealth approach to increase access and convenience for our clients, ensuring that they can receive timely support wherever they are located.

Work Environment

As a fully remote position, you will operate from the comfort of your own home while leveraging a HIPAA-compliant platform for all client interactions. The digital environment allows for seamless scheduling, client management, and documentation processes, ensuring you can focus on providing quality care without the typical distractions of an in-office setting. Our supportive and collaborative virtual team culture promotes communication and continuous professional development among counselors.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering virtual mental health therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices tailored to each client's needs.
  • Formulating individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments and client feedback, adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Utilizing our online platforms to maintain accurate client records, track progress, and document session notes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Monitoring and evaluating client progress regularly to adapt therapeutic approaches effectively, encouraging client engagement and motivation.
  • Providing clients with practical advice and coping strategies to help them navigate their challenges and improve their mental well-being.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on first responders who frequently contend with high-stress environments and traumatic experiences. You will help them navigate the specific mental health challenges they face, such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression, providing a safe and supportive space for healing and recovery.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field.
  • An active California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
  • A minimum of two years of professional counseling experience, preferably in an outpatient or telehealth setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to foster rapport with diverse client demographics.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital tools for clinical documentation and client interaction.
Preferred Experience

While the minimum requirements include two years of experience, candidates with three years or more in outpatient or telehealth settings will be preferred. Experience working specifically with first responders or trauma-informed care is highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary that falls between USD 90,000 and 100,000 annually, employees at the First Responder Mental Health Clinic enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • 401(k) plan with employer contributions to secure your financial future.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance to support your well-being.
  • Life insurance for added peace of mind concerning you and your family.
Career Growth Opportunities

We are committed to the professional development of our team members. As a Mental Health Counselor with us, you will have access to continued education programs, training in the latest therapeutic techniques, and opportunities for advancement within the organization, creating pathways to leadership roles or specialized practice areas.

Why Join Our Team
