Job description

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

The Role:   On a typical day, but not limited to the Supplier Quality Focal plans, organizes, and conducts audits, surveys, and inspections. Monitors and reports on supplier performance-related activities to verify Quality System, product and contract, or purchase order compliance. Prepares, maintains, and reviews procurement quality procedures to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Represents the company with suppliers. Conducts training programs and coordinates company initiatives to develop and improve supplier performance and productivity.  Provides technical expertise to company employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory education and coaching on the Quality System.


Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that suppliers manufacturing, quality system, special processes, and products meet purchase contract requirements, customer requirements and applicable regulatory agency and government regulations.
  • Ensures that suppliers document and maintain an approved Quality System to meet the appropriate company or customer requirements
  • This requires planning, organization, and conduction of audits, surveys, and inspections of supplier. Represents the company with suppliers. Ensures that suppliers document and maintain an approved Quality System to meet the appropriate company or customer requirements.
  • Work with supplier to submit Notifications of Escapement (NOE) and work to closure with 8D’s.
  • Create Control Plans for suppliers and work to keep them on track.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and operations
  • 5+ years of experience with Quality/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Competent in Root Cause Corrective Action and ability to perform conformity checks.
  • Strong ability to read drawings, procedures, First Article Inspections (FAI) and understand contracts.
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • This will be a remote position
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30-40% (Domestic and International)
    • Southwest region covers Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Technical or Engineering degree
