Job description

Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Mechanical Project Engineer in our Facilities Engineering Solution Center. This position is available in any one of our 16 office locations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Design of mechanical systems and the day-to-day guidance of mechanical project teams needed to support the design for a variety of facilities projects including commercial facilities, healthcare facilities, and industrial facilities.
  • Mechanical systems design including - Utility piping systems commonly found in industrial facilities and associated P&ID's (e.g. steam, cooling water, chilled water, compressed air, etc.), HVAC Systems, Plumbing systems, Fire protection systems, and Process ventilation
  • Preparation of construction documents, including: plans, specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates.
  • Review work of others for quality
  • Assists in client contact and communication during design, bidding, and construction administration. This includes attending client meetings at remote sites, possibly out of state.
  • Provide construction phase support, including response to RFIs, bid reviews, and on-site construction observation visits.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Starting salary will increase proportionately with demonstrated design experience in any of the following systems or markets:

  • Plumbing system design
  • Fire protection system design
  • Industrial piping system design, including familiarity with the ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping codes.
  • Industrial ventilation system design
  • Pipe stress analysis
  • Mission Critical/Data Center
  • Healthcare
  • Federal and/or Military, including familiarity with UFC construction standards
  • Water/wastewater facilities
