Job Summary

The Fire Sprinkler REVIT / CAD Designer (NICET Level II / III) is responsible for developing coordinated fire sprinkler system designs using REVIT and/or AutoCAD in support of GC-led BIM workflows. This role produces permit and construction-ready drawings, performs hydraulic calculations, and manages submittals and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.

The position works closely with project managers, field leadership, engineers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure code-compliant, constructible designs that align with project schedules and coordination requirements. This role is critical to maintaining quality, efficiency, and consistency while supporting the Company's long-term growth and technical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

  • Reviews construction documents, specifications, BIM execution plans (BEP), and coordination requirements to develop fire sprinkler system designs
  • Designs fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local AHJ requirements, and project specifications
  • Develops and maintains Revit models and AutoCAD drawings for permit, coordination, and construction use
  • Participates in BIM coordination processes, including clash detection and model updates, in accordance with GC-driven workflows
  • Coordinates pipe routing, sprinkler placement, and system components with architectural, structural, and MEP trades
  • Performs hydraulic calculations and adjusts system layouts to meet demand, density, and code requirements
  • Generates material stock lists and supports procurement planning

Coordination & Project Support

  • Coordinates design intent and constructability with project managers, engineers, general contractors, and field personnel
  • Attends project coordination meetings, BIM coordination meetings, and pre-installation reviews as required
  • Performs field surveys and site verifications to confirm existing conditions and resolve conflicts
  • Assists and/or provides technical direction to the lead foreman during field checks and installation phases
  • Reviews and incorporates RFIs, ASIs, and change orders into design documents

Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensures all designs comply with applicable codes, permits, and AHJ requirements
  • Prepares and manages sprinkler submittals through approval, addressing review comments and revisions
  • Maintains organized project documentation, models, and historical records for future reference
  • Monitors assigned projects to ensure compliance with safety, quality, productivity, and profitability goals

Professional & Process Improvement

  • Communicates effectively with internal teams, customers, and external partners in a professional manner
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements related to BIM coordination, design standards, and efficiency
  • Adheres to all company employment policies, safety standards, and best practices

Experience / Training / Education

Required

  • NICET Level II or Level III in Automatic Sprinkler Systems (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in fire sprinkler system design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with working or advanced knowledge of Revit in a BIM coordination environment
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 24, and related codes and standards
  • Experience performing hydraulic calculations and system sizing

Preferred

  • Experience working on GC-led BIM projects using Revit models for coordination and clash detection
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination tools and workflows (e.g., model exchanges, coordination meetings, clash resolution)
  • Prior experience supporting field installation and constructability reviews
  • Strong project planning, organization, and time-management skills
