THE POSITION:
Job Summary: The Manager, Civil Engineering will lead and oversee the civil engineering design efforts for data center development projects. This role involves managing a team of engineering consultants, ensuring the reliability and design effectiveness of significant projects, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve project goals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leadership and Management:
  • Direct and manage a team of civil engineers and design professionals.
  • Assess potential risks, materials, and costs for projects.
  • Ensure projects comply with guidelines, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Monitor project progress and compile status reports.
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective project execution.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Project Oversight:
  • Approve project schedules and ensure timely completion of design phases.
  • Establish and enforce quality control and safety policies.

Technical Expertise:
  • Provide technical support and design to support Sales and Development teams for early site due diligence and site test fits.
  • Provide technical support to Construction team for ongoing projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the I&E team.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and reports.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with new critical project partners.
  • Communicate project progress and challenges to internal management.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with advancements in civil engineering and data center design.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
  • Develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven working experience in civil engineering and land development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in site design and permitting
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing data center sites, preferably with hyperscale clients
  • Excellent knowledge of site due diligence and entitlement processes
  • Highly skilled with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, stormwater management, roadway design, fire coverage, and other aspects of site design.
  • Strong project management and supervision skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

Compensation Range:
$133,000.00 - $154,000.00
