What is a remote fintech?

A Remote Fintech job involves working in the financial technology industry from a remote location, using digital tools to develop, manage, or support financial services. These roles can include software development, data analysis, compliance, customer support, and product management. Remote Fintech jobs enable professionals to collaborate with global teams while leveraging technology to improve banking, payments, investing, and other financial services.

What does a remote fintech do?

Professionals in Remote Fintech roles often spend their day analyzing financial data, developing or maintaining digital financial products, and solving technical challenges related to payments or risk management. They collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams such as engineers, product managers, and compliance specialists to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance. Remote fintech professionals frequently participate in stand-up meetings, document technical or financial processes, and stay updated on emerging technologies and trends. This role requires adaptability and proactive communication to thrive in a fully digital and fast-paced work environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive in a remote fintech role?

To excel in a Remote Fintech role, you need a strong understanding of finance, technology, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in finance, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with financial platforms (such as Stripe or Plaid), coding languages (like Python or SQL), and industry certifications like CFA or FinTech-specific credentials is highly valued. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation skills are especially important when working remotely and collaborating across time zones. These abilities are essential for building innovative fintech solutions and fostering effective teamwork in a digital-first environment.

Is it hard to get a job in remote fintech?

Securing a remote fintech job can be competitive, but candidates with relevant skills such as financial technology knowledge, programming, or data analysis often have an advantage. Strong technical skills, certifications, and experience with remote work tools can improve chances of employment in this field.

Coupa Expenses is a core part of Coupa's Business Spend Management platform, giving employees a simple way to submit, track, and get reimbursed for expenses while giving finance teams the visibility and controls they need. By continually evolving the product to meet the needs of a modern, mobile workforce, Coupa Expenses helps companies manage spend with confidence.
As a Senior Product Manager on the Coupa Expenses team, you will drive product initiatives that deliver innovation, strengthen adoption, and unblock customers. This role calls for someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds trust across functions, and uses data to inform every decision. You bring a strong bias for action, deep curiosity about how our products work end-to-end, and a genuine desire to make both customers and colleagues successful.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead product design and requirements across complex, cross-functional initiatives, partnering closely with Engineering, UX, Platform, and Success teams to align on scope, dependencies, and delivery approach.
  • Build and maintain reporting and dashboards that give internal teams (Product, Growth, Leadership) clear visibility into product adoption, usage, and customer health.
  • Act as a go-to subject matter expert for customer escalations, partnering with Support, Services, and Engineering to diagnose issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Translate customer feedback and usage data into clear product requirements and prioritization recommendations.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis and continually assess the product's competitive position domestically and internationally.
  • Support and help scale internal and external enablement (webinars, documentation, training) so Support, Services, and Customer Success teams can operate more self-sufficiently.
  • Represent the product in customer-facing settings, including advisory boards, escalation calls, and adoption reviews.
What You Will Bring to Coupa
  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, fintech, or payments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from ambiguous requirements through to delivery, coordinating effectively across Engineering, UX, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with hands-on experience building or using dashboards/reporting tools (e.g., Metabase, Looker, Tableau) to drive product and business decisions.
  • A track record of resolving complex customer issues and turning escalations into durable product or process improvements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative, "roll up your sleeves" mindset paired with sound judgment on when to lead and when to support.
  • Comfort operating with incomplete information and adapting quickly as priorities shift.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Expense Management, Corporate Cards, or related Finance/Procurement domains.
  • Familiarity with SQL and comfort querying data directly to answer product questions.
  • Experience working with or presenting to customer advisory boards or executive audiences.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or PeopleSoft.
  • BA/BS technical degree preferred; MBA is a plus, or equivalent work experience.
This role is fully remote within the US
