Job description

Senior Financial Analyst
Prime Matter Labs
Remote / Hybrid (preferred, based in Long Island City, NY)
Direct Hire
WHO WE ARE:
Prime Matter Labs is an established cosmetics and personal care manufacturer with over 40 years of experience formulating, compounding, and filling products for some of the most respected brands in the world.

We exist to bring better products to the world by empowering our customers to bring their ideas to life. We strive to be their most valuable partner, delivering a level of efficiency, service, and support unmatched in the industry.

Starting in 2020, in partnership with Monogram Capital Partners, we embarked on a bold new vision to be the leading product development and production partner in the country for emerging and established brands.  To realize that vision, we are investing at an unprecedented level in new technology, processes, and plans that will completely rethink the way brands view and interact with their manufacturer.  Come help us build the future of the personal care and beauty landscape, one partnership at a time.

JOB SUMMARY:
This Senior Financial Analyst role is a chance to help build the FP&A function of a profitable, growing business at an inflection point.  Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this role will assist with financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis across the business.  The ideal candidate is both analytical and operational, capable of building scalable FP&A infrastructure while also delivering insights that drive growth and profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the monthly FP&A close process, P&L, balance sheet, reporting package, and variance commentary, delivered to senior leadership and PE ownership.
  • Build and maintain complex Excel-based financial models that drive forecast accuracy and real decisions.
  • Develop KPI metrics that business partners find value in; focused on actionable insights over reporting volume.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain to maintain standard costing, analyze manufacturing variances, and drive margin improvement.
  • Play a key role in our DOSS ERP implementation, helping shape how finance operates after go-live.
  • Help analyze manufacturing performance, inventory, labor, absorption, standard costing, and operational KPIs to identify opportunities to improve margins and cash flow
  • Leverage AI to identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and value-added analysis.
  • Lead financial analysis on strategic initiatives such as pricing, new product launches, capex business cases, and M&A diligence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-5 years of FP&A, corporate finance, or consulting experience.  Manufacturing background is a plus, not a must.
  • Strong command of monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Expert-level Excel; experience building models from scratch, not just maintaining them.
  • 2+ years working in an ERP environment (SAP, Oracle, Sage or similar).
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and interaction between the three financial statements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA, CPA, or CFA progress is a plus.
  • Builder’s instincts; you thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and want to create structure, not inherit it.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Base salary $75K-$95K + 10% target annual bonus
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401K program with 5% company match
  • Flexible Time Off policy
  • Ten paid holidays (including Good Friday and Juneteenth)
  • Hybrid schedule: 2 days/week in our downtown Brooklyn office.
  • The spirit of a startup with the stability of a profitable 40-year industry leader

Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based work environment during regular business hours.
  • Frequent use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds (files, binders, or office materials).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach as needed throughout the workday.
