Job Summary

The Financial Operations Expert is a technical resource within the Global Business Services Finance organization, responsible for providing expert financial guidance and leadership across Hydro's North American Manufacturing Operations. The role partners with Plant Controllers, Regional Finance, and business leaders to resolve complex manufacturing finance issues, lead cross-functional initiatives, implement standardized financial processes, and advance finance transformation efforts that improve operational performance and strengthen financial governance.

What you will be doing
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including ERP implementations, automation, digital finance solutions, process optimization, and reporting enhancements.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Finance, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Information Technology, and Corporate Accounting to improve financial processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operational performance.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex manufacturing accounting, inventory valuation, costing methodologies, financial reporting, and compliance matters.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance, operational metrics, financial trends, and key performance indicators to develop recommendations that improve business performance and support operational decision-making.
  • Develop and enhance reporting, analytics, and performance metrics that improve financial visibility and support leadership decision-making.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing finance processes through automation, technology, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead financial assessments related to new manufacturing processes, system implementations, organizational initiatives, and business process improvements, providing recommendations that support operational and financial objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to Plant Controllers, Regional Finance teams, and finance professionals to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, financial stewardship, collaboration, and operational excellence throughout the North American finance organization.
What will make you successful?
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, controlling, cost accounting, financial operations, or manufacturing accounting.
  • Extensive experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities and partnering with finance and operations leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading ERP implementations, finance transformation initiatives, automation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, overhead absorption, financial reporting, and operational finance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation, business process improvement, ERP implementations, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial and operational issues.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
  • Advanced understanding of financial governance, internal controls, compliance requirements, and risk management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex initiatives while balancing strategic priorities and operational execution.
  • Expert proficiency with Oracle, SAP S/4HANA, AS400, Hyperion, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and other financial reporting and analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and facilitation skills.
