Job description

Position Highlights
This position is centralized within the Division of Student Affairs and is part of the Financial Planning & Business Operations unit. The unit partners with Division and University stakeholders to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of financial and human resources functions across the Division.

This position is fully on campus and is not eligible for remote work. To receive full consideration, applicants must submit both a resume and cover letter with their application.

Key responsibilities include:
Division-level monitoring and reporting for Gift Commitments and associated Project Accounts
Financial Specialist for Assessment, Technology & Communications & Student Development, Access & Support departments
Grant financial administration and Division liaison to Sponsored Programs Accounting
Collaborates closely with campus partners including Controller's Office, Budget and Facilities
Provides financial training and ongoing support for finance positions within the Division


The successful candidate will collaborate closely with University partners, including the Controller's Office, Budget Office, and Facilities Management. Experience managing multi-year budgets and working with diverse funding sources, such as gifts, grants, and capital project funds, is strongly preferred.

Student Affairs Financial Planning and Business Operations
The Student Affairs Financial Planning and Business Operations team oversees the Division's financial and workforce resources. Responsibilities include managing a $46 million operating budget, $17 million in annual revenue, and $8 million in gifts and discretionary funds across a variety of funding sources.


The team supports the Senior Vice President in developing the Division's financial strategy, allocating resources to advance priorities, and planning for all revenue and funding streams. It also provides Division level workforce planning and talent development for more than 300 staff positions while partnering with divisional leaders to achieve strategic goals.


The Student Affairs Division's strategic priorities of inclusion, community and belonging, well-being, and a unified organizational culture closely align with the university's institutional priorities and strategic framework.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Designs, prepares, and presents financial information to the leadership team to assist with ongoing management and decision making regarding the college's finances and operations
    • Maintains analysis and financial forecasting across the organization, including complex compensation-related reconciliations
    • Prepares cost models based on data from general ledger, registrar, student financial services, and fixed assets
    • Completes and evaluates complex reconciliations and analysis of financial accounts, including operating, capital, special, discretionary, start-up, internal grants, and overhead project accounts to ensure transactions are accurate and in compliance with applicable institution policies and other regulatory requirements
    • Develops annual operating budget based on current salary recommendations, current and new academic and operational initiatives, and revenue forecasts
    • Prepares various standard and ad hoc reporting and analysis for management decision-making for multiple stakeholders
    • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and budgeting practices and protocols to ensure accurate financial management and compliance
    • Knowledge of enterprise-wide financial applications and Microsoft Office
    • Skill in synthesizing and analyzing financial data and preparing detailed reports to support decision-making and budgeting activities
    • Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and customer service
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise professional judgment regarding financial decisions

    • Bachelor's degree in related field
    • 5 years of relevant experience
    • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
