Job description

Revenue Accounting Manager - Remote Position

The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for providing financial analysis, review and control to various business units within Curtiss Wright Controls Defense Solutions.

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary Range:$103,900 - $138,500 plus bonus opportunity

Your Challenge:

  • Revenue recognition on customer contracts, with focus on project related revenue analysis, recording, reporting and forecasting as driven by project deliverables and costs based on percentage of completion over-time recognition

  • Monthly review of GL account reconciliations for revenue related accounts as well as project data related reconciliations

  • Proactive communication with Business Unit Controllers and Program Managers for assisting Estimated Costs at Completion, challenging assumptions used in estimates, monitoring costs incurred to date against budget/forecast and developing models for actuals and forecasts

  • Ongoing/timely reporting to various stakeholders (BU leaders, Controllers, Program Managers and Senior Mgmt.) for revenue data and related variance analysis

  • Timely preparation and review of reporting packages to Corporate with regards to revenue/project related financial information

  • Preparing memos/checklists over customer contracts in accordance with US GAAP

  • Aid in the revenue recognition/project process improvement as required

  • Aid in various internal/external audits including Sarbanes-Oxley self-assessment and compliance in responsible areas

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting on an as needed basis

  • Ad Hoc Reporting and Analysis

  • General accounting and finance tasks as required

  • Backup and support for other members of the finance team

What you Bring:

  • A post secondary diploma/degree from a college or university in Accounting and or Business

  • Professional Accounting Designation highly preferred and audit experience with a large firm considered an asset

  • 5-7 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing or high technology environment; or a combination

  • Good understanding of US GAAP or IFRS and general/cost accounting principles and practices

  • Must have superior Excel skills and excellent communication skills (oral and written)

  • Experience with revenue/cost analysis and audits considered an asset

  • Excellent analytical skills to analyze data, understand significance and explain issues able to take initiatives and recommend solutions / process improvements

  • Able to work effectively as an individual contributor as well as part of a team, ability to work with cross-functional teams, to follow procedures and use system tools

  • Excellent technical ability, including ability to work with integrated ERP systems preferably S4 HANA/SAP

  • Ability to embrace change with enthusiasm for continuous improvement
