Remote Figure Drawing Model information

How does a remote figure drawing model typically interact with artists during virtual sessions?

Remote figure drawing models usually work through video conferencing platforms, where they pose live for groups or individual artists. Clear communication is essential; models often receive pose requests or timing cues via chat or voice from session hosts or artists. A reliable internet connection and a well-lit, neutral background are important for delivering a clear visual reference. While models work independently from their own space, they are part of a collaborative experience, helping artists improve their skills and often receiving real-time feedback.

What is a remote figure drawing model?

Remote figure drawing models are individuals who pose for artists virtually, typically using video conferencing software or live streaming platforms. They provide a variety of poses, often in different durations and attire, to help artists practice and improve their drawing skills. Unlike traditional figure drawing sessions held in studios, remote models work from their own space and connect with artists around the world. This setup offers flexibility and accessibility for both models and participants. Remote figure drawing is popular among art schools, workshops, and independent artists.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote figure drawing model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Figure Drawing Model, you need a strong sense of body awareness, the ability to hold poses for extended periods, and reliable internet access, typically with some prior experience or training in figure modeling or life drawing settings. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (such as Zoom or Skype) and proper lighting and camera setup are important technical requirements. Professionalism, punctuality, and comfort with remote communication are essential soft skills that help build trust with artists and organizers. These skills ensure that sessions run smoothly and efficiently, allowing artists to capture accurate references in a virtual environment.

What is the difference between Remote Figure Drawing Model vs Remote Life Drawing Instructor?

Remote Figure Drawing Models primarily pose for artists or students without teaching responsibilities, focusing on providing accurate anatomy references. Remote Life Drawing Instructors, on the other hand, teach or guide students in drawing from live or posed models. While both roles involve art and anatomy, models focus on posing, whereas instructors focus on teaching and guiding art practice remotely.

This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop detailed 3D ship and offshore structure models in Creo from imported data and engineering and construction drawings provided in PDF and other electronic formats.
  • Digitize vessel hull forms and create HECSALV and Creo models from available design documentation.
  • Perform detailed technical reviews of 3D models to verify compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and internal procedures.

  • Identify modeling challenges and recommend improvements to methodologies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Windchill workflows.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Critical Area Knowledge (CAK) libraries and digital model standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, surveyors, and project teams to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to broader team objectives.
  • Participate in technical training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete and comply with ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System requirements and apply continuous improvement principles in daily work activities.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of advanced Creo Parametric experience (or equivalent 3D modeling software experience).

  • Experience creating detailed 3D models of large structures such as marine and offshore structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and effectively manage workload schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
