West Hills Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This position is entirely remote, allowing you to work flexibly while providing essential mental health services to a diverse population. Our team utilizes advanced electronic health record systems, ensuring efficient documentation and communication. • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and initial assessments, documenting every step from the first consultation through to treatment completion.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention and recovery plans for clients, which can encompass individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging and therapeutic individual and group therapy sessions, ensuring all clients feel heard and validated in a safe environment.
• Monitor and document clients' progress throughout the treatment journey, adjusting plans as necessary to meet changing needs.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate effective treatments and interventions.
• Follow up with clients who have been admitted to local hospitals, ensuring continuity of care and liaising with hospital staff to maintain treatment plans.
• Identify and proactively address barriers that may hinder recovery, providing interventions to assist families and primary caregivers with mental health challenges.

Our clients come from various backgrounds and may present with a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. As a mental health counselor, you will play a critical role in addressing the unique challenges faced by these individuals, working to foster an environment of healing and resilience. You will also assist clients in understanding how to manage stressors, develop coping strategies, and navigate their mental health journeys effectively.

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois is required.
• Must have passed the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE).
• Strong proficiency in electronic health record systems, particularly with AVATAR or similar platforms.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective interactions with clients and interdisciplinary team members.

• A minimum of two years of experience working as a licensed mental health counselor.
• Expertise in addressing co-occurring physical and emotional health conditions, as well as an understanding of addiction disorders.
• Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and its best practices is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of the pharmacological aspects related to mental health, including medications prescribed by various specialists.
