Remote Feed Store information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Feed Store Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Feed Store Manager, you need strong knowledge of agricultural products, inventory management, and retail sales, often supported by experience in agriculture or business administration. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory tracking software, and basic accounting tools is typically required. Excellent customer service, team leadership, and problem-solving skills help build customer loyalty and maintain smooth store operations. These competencies are crucial for ensuring efficient operations, customer satisfaction, and the overall profitability of the feed store.

What is a Remote Feed Store?

A Remote Feed Store is a business or online platform that supplies animal feed and related products to customers who may not be able to visit a physical location. It allows customers, such as farmers or pet owners in rural or remote areas, to order feed and have it delivered directly to their location. This service helps ensure that animals receive the necessary nutrition even when access to traditional feed stores is limited. Remote feed stores often offer a variety of products, including specialized feeds, supplements, and sometimes farm supplies. They may operate via websites, phone orders, or mobile apps to facilitate convenient ordering and delivery.

What are the common challenges faced by employees working in a remote feed store environment?

Employees in a remote feed store often face challenges related to communication and logistics, as coordinating with suppliers and customers requires clear, consistent digital communication. Managing inventory can also be complex due to reliance on remote tracking systems and shipping schedules. Additionally, building customer relationships remotely demands strong customer service skills, as most interactions occur via phone, email, or online platforms rather than in person. Adapting to these challenges is key to ensuring smooth operations and maintaining customer satisfaction.

Job description

This is a remote position.

Role Summary

The Data / Search Specialist makes the customer's knowledge usable by generative AI systems. On an embedded enablement pod, the specialist builds the connectors, knowledge bases, and retrieval layers that ground AI applications in approved enterprise content, while
enforcing data classification and access boundaries and transferring these practices to customer staff. The role is hands-on and supports the architect and application engineers throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and configure connectors and ingestion pipelines bringing approved enterprise content into knowledge bases, including SharePoint Online, Exchange/Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Design and maintain knowledge base structures using Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases and Amazon OpenSearch, including chunking, metadata, and indexing strategies.
  • Integrate structured data sources such as Amazon Athena, Redshift, RDS, and S3 for retrieval and analysis.
  • Generate and manage embeddings and configure vector stores for retrieval.
  • Build a retrieval-evaluation framework and iteratively improve relevance, accuracy, and grounding/citation quality.
  • Implement document-level and user-level access enforcement so retrieval respects data classification, PHI/PII boundaries, and least-privilege principles.
  • Collaborate with the architect and engineers to align data design with the overall solution and evaluation goals, and transfer practices to customer staff.
  • Document data flows, indexing decisions, retrieval configurations, and connector feasibility for handover and reuse.

Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with search, retrieval, or knowledge-base systems and the data pipelines that feed them.
  • Working knowledge of embeddings, vector stores, and RAG retrieval patterns.
  • Experience with data ingestion, connectors, indexing, and content preparation, ideally including Microsoft 365 sources.
  • Strong understanding of data permissions, document-level / user-level access control, data classification, and governance (including PHI/PII).
  • Familiarity with AWS data and AI services (e.g., Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, OpenSearch, Athena/Redshift/RDS/S3) and core AWS fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to data quality, and ability to transfer practices to customer staff.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Amazon OpenSearch, Kendra, Amazon Q Business, or comparable enterprise search platforms.
  • Background in data engineering or information retrieval.
  • Experience building formal retrieval-evaluation methods and quality monitoring.
  • Exposure to regulated or public-sector environments.
  • AWS certification in data analytics or machine learning.

Location & Travel
  • This is a US-only position; candidates must be authorized to work in and based in the United States.
  • The role is primarily remote but may require travel up to 10% during the engagement for on-site workshops and customer sessions.
Experience Level
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with at least 2 years of relevant technical stack experience.
  • Should understand AWS fundamentals in addition to the AI/data stack.
