What is a remote evidence technician?

A Remote Evidence Technician is a professional responsible for managing, analyzing, and preserving digital or physical evidence from a remote location, often for law enforcement or legal cases. Their duties may include cataloging evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and ensuring proper storage and documentation, all while working outside a traditional office or lab setting. This role relies heavily on secure digital systems to access, process, and report on evidence, allowing for flexibility and efficiency in supporting investigations. Remote Evidence Technicians must adhere to strict legal and ethical standards to ensure the integrity and admissibility of evidence. They often collaborate with investigators, attorneys, and other forensic professionals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote evidence technician?

To thrive as a Remote Evidence Technician, you need a solid understanding of evidence handling procedures, chain of custody protocols, and typically a background in criminal justice or forensic science. Familiarity with digital evidence management systems, secure file transfer tools, and database software is commonly required. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for this position. These abilities ensure the integrity, security, and accurate documentation of evidence, which are vital for legal processes and investigations.

What are some common challenges faced by remote evidence technicians and how can they be managed?

Remote Evidence Technicians often encounter challenges such as maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols, ensuring data security during digital evidence transfers, and communicating effectively with onsite personnel. To manage these, it's important to follow standardized documentation procedures, use secure digital platforms, and participate in regular training on evidence handling. Building strong communication channels with field investigators also helps ensure that remote coordination does not compromise evidence integrity.

Job description

About Belle

Belle is a fast growing engagement company that is revolutionizing home healthcare - and it all begins with the feet. With 25M+ U.S. seniors no longer able to see or reach their feet, a lack of self care and mobility challenges cost the health insurance plans $38B+ in preventable medical spending every year.

Belle trains and manages a network of nail technicians or "Belle Technicians" who provide in-home foot care (aka medical pedicures). Belle uses cutting edge data science to identify those most in need on behalf of health plans and deploys its services accordingly. While in the home, Belle Technicians complete assessments and screenings, often being the first to identify emerging issues below and above the knee. As these issues arise, a team of remote nurses coordinate care with other healthcare providers - preventing serious and costly episodes.

Our mission: Bring Joy to Healthcare. Join us if our cause inspires you!

About this Role

Belle is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide remote telehealth support for Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in our Chronic Care Management (CCM) program. This role focuses on responding to urgent clinical escalations from our nursing team, with the majority of calls involving poorly controlled hypertension, medication concerns, and other non-life-threatening acute issues.

As a Telehealth Provider, you will assess members remotely, determine the appropriate level of care, provide evidence-based treatment recommendations, and collaborate closely with nurses, Community Health Workers, primary care providers, and care coordinators to help keep members healthy and out of the emergency department whenever clinically appropriate.

This is a fully remote position supporting a fast-growing, mission-driven organization dedicated to bringing joy to healthcare.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct telehealth evaluations for Medicare beneficiaries experiencing urgent, non-emergent clinical concerns
  • Evaluate symptoms, review medical histories, and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Determine when escalation to the member's primary care provider, emergency department, or 911 is clinically indicated
  • Document all encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist in reducing avoidable emergency department visits and hospitalizations through proactive clinical intervention.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, medications, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring.
  • Promote medication adherence and self-management of chronic conditions.
  • Provide clinical guidance and education to nursing staff on appropriate escalation pathways.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National certification appropriate to specialty.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience, preferably in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, urgent care, or chronic disease management.
  • Experience managing hypertension and common chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and chronic kidney disease.
  • Prior telehealth or virtual care experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and patient education abilities.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EMRs.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Benefits
  • 401k
  • PTO, Sick, Wellness leave, and Paid Holidays
  • Opportunity for significant career growth and expansion of responsibilities
  • Ability to reshape an industry and protect lives
