Position Details:

This role is a Technical Manager, for a fixed-term project/contract basis, starting April 2026 and ending in September 2026. Working mode will be hybrid with flexibility to be remote while also being on site during events. Preference to candidates in Los Angeles, CA.

Role Summary

ESL FACEIT Group is seeking Technical Manager with a background in Live Event Production, specifically for esports and gaming. The Technical Manager shall be the lead for a designated area at one of the company's upcoming events - reporting directly to the Senior Director of Production / Operations. The role involves close collaboration with Broadcast Engineering, IT within the Production vertical, and Project Management to meet the needs of a dynamic production company in the gaming and esports industry.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead the delivery of live event / production and all areas of Technical Production within the designated production.
  • Manage all facets of day-to-day operations within the production area including leading and managing Production Management, Production Design, and Technical Event Management roles on site.
  • Work within and develop production processes and procedures, including production lifecycle, staffing, production reporting and logs, and the creative sharing of ideas and approaches to production across stakeholders.
  • Oversee and maintain production standards, processes and necessary documentation.
  • Provide budgetary direction and oversee all live production expenditures.
  • Facilitate team communication and ensure the timely dissemination of information.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external production partners to ensure scheduling and on-time delivery of assets and deliverables.
  • Attend and act as the primary Production stakeholder during project meetings; communicate resource needs and status.
  • Lead production scoping meetings for creative producers, project managers, and the production department in advance of new projects.
  • Manage and report production status for all phases of the production cycle for multiple concurrent projects and escalate issues as needed.
  • Oversee day to day production operations during the project and resolve show impacts and issues with the technical, production, and project teams.
  • Source and manage third-party vendors and production partners to ensure successful and on-budget execution of productions; lead RFP processes in line with project procurement standards.
Role Requirements
  • 7+ years of production management/direction experience within a production company or agency in a client-facing role.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in managing projects or initiatives from start to finish.
  • 3+ years of experience in people mentorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully direct and guide the work of others.
  • Core understanding of live event production processes.
  • Ability to lead and direct senior to junior-level team members.
  • Empathetic team leader with a motivating work ethic and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional team members to help solve strategic, account-level challenges.
  • Familiarity with project management software (JIRA, Trello, Asana, Smartsheet, monday.com, etc.) and best practices.
  • Familiarity with G Suite.

  • Knowledge of standard camera, grip, and graphic broadcast production gear, as well as live broadcast & event lighting, audio, graphics, and video production procedures, technologies, and workflows.
