What is a Remote Epic Software Developer?

A Remote Epic Software Developer is a professional who designs, builds, and maintains software solutions for the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system while working remotely. These developers typically customize Epic modules, integrate third-party systems, and develop tools to enhance healthcare workflows. They collaborate with healthcare organizations, analysts, and end-users to ensure solutions meet clinical and operational needs. Remote Epic Software Developers use programming languages and tools specific to Epic, such as Chronicles, Interconnect, and Bridges, to create efficient and secure healthcare applications.

What are some typical challenges faced by Remote Epic Software Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Epic Software Developers often face challenges such as effective communication with healthcare teams, navigating complex healthcare workflows, and ensuring data security compliance. Since much of the work involves close collaboration with clinical staff and analysts, proactive communication and leveraging collaboration tools are essential. Additionally, staying updated on Epic's frequent software updates and regulatory requirements can be demanding, so ongoing training and participation in Epic user communities can help developers remain effective and compliant.

Job Description At a certain point, software design can start to look like clairvoyance. You’ve developed so many organization-wide software architectures that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technical challenge, but you can also anticipate future concerns. That’s because you’re a software architect who specializes in architecting integrated, AI?enabled software solutions that unify disparate defense data sources into a coherent operational picture, with a solid background in enterprise?scale analytics platforms and mission?system integration. At Booz Allen, you can use those skills to improve the software technology supporting advanced command and control (C2) in an Air Operations Center. On our team, you'll translate your customer’s software needs and future goals into a plan by developing and implementing effective Git?based versioning and modern DevSecOps toolchains tailored for deployment across the Maven Smart System (MSS) and SC2S environments, to design an effective software architecture. Your technical expertise will be vital as you lead the building of a machine?assisted decision platform that integrates all relevant data into a Common Air Defense Picture (CADP), automates air defense workflows, and generates optimized courses of action using AI?enabled decision?support components and iterative Agile development. In this role, you’ll directly impact Air Force C2 modernization by accelerating C2 decision cycles, automating key defensive workflows, enhancing cross?domain data fusion, and providing real?time operational recommendations that improve the protection of joint forces and strategic locations. With your advanced technical expertise, mentoring, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, you’ll guide a team that develops the best solutions for our customers. Work with us as we transform the future of technology in Air Force C2 for the better. You Have:? 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering mission critical or enterprise software systems, including secure application environments and operator-facing capabilities in restricted or classified settings 6+ years of experience architecting or implementing software solutions, including APIs, microservices, back-end systems, or workflow applications deployed in air gapped, degraded connectivity, or multi-classification environments 6+ years of experience creating or maintaining software ecosystems, including logging frameworks, monitoring solutions, operational dashboards, or modernizing legacy applications 6+ years of experience implementing DevSecOps practices, including containerization, orchestration, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure deployment processes in constrained environments 6+ years of experience integrating AI/ML, automation, or advanced analytics into production software, including intelligent assistants, decision support tools, or workflow automation 6+ years of experience making architectural or implementation tradeoffs under constrained mission conditions, including limited infrastructure, evolving requirements, or demanding operational timelines Experience rapidly learning unfamiliar technologies, achieving hands-on proficiency, and supporting engineering teams through full lifecycle implementation Experience communicating technical decisions and solution impacts to engineers, government clients, or senior non-technical stakeholders Secret clearance Bachelor’s degree Nice If You Have:? Experience developing or supporting multi-cloud, multi-enclave, or multi-classification application architectures across environments such as NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, or coalition networks Experience contributing to defense programs or large-scale software integration efforts involving acquisition, compliance, or organizational complexity Experience supporting DoD installations, operational units, or C2 systems with incomplete documentation or inconsistent technical baselines Experience creating automation workflows, engineering productivity tooling, or platform components that improve delivery velocity or reduce operator workload Experience influencing system design or delivery in a technical leadership capacity
Experience supporting rapid response engineering missions, tiger teams, or flyaway teams under accelerated delivery timelines Top Secret clearance
