What is a Remote Epic Security Analyst?

A Remote Epic Security Analyst is a professional who manages and maintains user access, security settings, and compliance within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system while working remotely. They are responsible for configuring user roles, monitoring security protocols, and ensuring that patient data remains protected according to healthcare regulations. These analysts collaborate with IT teams, clinical staff, and compliance officers to identify risks, audit system access, and implement best practices in security. Their remote role allows them to perform these duties from any location, often leveraging secure remote access tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Epic Security Analyst?

To thrive as a Remote Epic Security Analyst, you need a strong background in information security, healthcare IT, and Epic system administration, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field. Experience with Epic Hyperspace, security provisioning tools, identity management systems, and Epic certification (such as Epic Security Coordinator) is highly valued. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating with remote teams and stakeholders.
