As part of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), our counselors work closely with primary care providers to integrate mental health services into overall health management. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Crystal Lake Families & Kids Services, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough patient intakes and assessments, focusing on diagnostic evaluations to guide treatment planning.
• Providing brief, focused interventions for clients seeking mental health assistance, tailoring approaches based on individual needs.
• Collaborating with primary care providers to manage and address mental health and psychosocial issues, ensuring timely referrals to specialized care when necessary.
• Developing relapse prevention plans to support clients in achieving and maintaining stability in their mental health.
• Following up with patients to assess their progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed to promote effective care outcomes.
• Documenting patient interactions, progress, and treatment recommendations accurately in clinical records.
• Delivering educational resources and self-management strategies that empower clients to take an active role in their recovery.
• Participating in team consultations, contributing insights on behavioral health services and program evaluations.
• Ensuring compliance with ethical standards and organizational guidelines while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Your practice will primarily focus on individuals and families facing diverse mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, and behavioral disorders. You will play a crucial role in providing culturally competent care and support to a varied patient demographic, tailored to meet their unique needs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling.
• A current active license as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland.
• Strong knowledge of mental health assessment techniques, treatment modalities, and behavioral therapies.
• Ability to navigate complex social issues affecting mental health within the community context.
• Exceptional communication skills, allowing you to foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Competence in electronic health record systems for documentation and reporting purposes.

While not mandatory, the following attributes will enhance your candidacy:

• Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish to better support our diverse client base.
• Experience in community health settings, particularly with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC).
• A familiarity with the DSM-IV and various psychotherapeutic techniques.
