Title: Environmental Engineer

Location: Saratoga Springs, NY or Syracuse, NY (Hybrid) or Western MA (Remote)

Job Type: Regular Full-time

What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented engineer to join our Saratoga Springs or Syracuse, NY offices. This is a full-time opportunity to grow your engineering career while contributing to both local and national environmental remediation projects. We are looking for candidates with 6 to 10+ years of experience in environmental engineering design and construction support. Project experience with geotechnical engineering evaluations related to sediments are considered a plus.

You'll work on a variety of projects involving sediment remediation, stream and wetland restoration, and other in-water and upland environmental efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in site investigation, design development, and construction oversight, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and make a meaningful impact. Work may require travel within the northeast region, and occasionally elsewhere in the United States.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, show initiative and attention to detail, and possess a strong interest in environmental engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Support planning, design, and implementation of environmental remediation projects, including dredging, capping, stream restoration, and wetland construction.
  • Prepare engineering design documents, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and calculations.
  • Contribute to technical reports such as sampling and analysis plans, feasibility studies, and design documentation.
  • Perform environmental sampling of soil, sediment, and water sampling,
  • Provide field support for site inspections and construction oversight.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, scientists, planners, and biologists.
  • Participate in construction support activities, including reviewing contractor submittals and RFIs.
  • Ensure deliverables meet Anchor QEA's quality standards.
  • Travel occasionally for fieldwork, site visits, and project meetings (primarily in Eastern NY and Western MA).

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 6-10 years of experience in environmental remediation, including investigation, design, and construction.
  • Experience with sediment remediation projects (such as dredging and capping) and stream or wetland restoration projects.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments and meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with contaminated sediment sites and in-water remediation.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS for site planning and design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in MA or NY, or on track to obtain within 1-2 years.
