Position Summary

RSI EnTech is currently recruiting Project Managers for our client in the TVA service territory. The preferred work locations are Chattanooga, Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, and Mayfield, Kentucky. However, for the right candidate an alternate work location may be considered as long as it is within TVA's territory. These roles are hybrid, working either from a TVA office/service center location, remote, or TVA jobsite.

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, direction, management, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects according to specifications, within budget cost from initiation through completion. The Project Manager leads Joint Project Teams (JPTs), applies professional principles, practices and techniques to lead project teams and control project schedule, cost and performance risk to ensure project is completed within a certain set of restraints (e.g., time, budget, people, quality, materials) and a high level of quality. The Project Manager is the single point of contact regarding a specific project and assumes the leadership role in safely managing the project.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs and manages projects from initial planning stages to completion, including post-project analysis in compliance with processes and procedures.
  • Actively manages multi-discipline teams including internal and external resources to define and achieve project performance goals, schedule and budget performance.
  • Develop full-scale project plans including project scope, accurate and reliable cost estimates, goals and deliverables, and effectively communicates project expectations to management, end users and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Proactively communicates project status, issues and risks to management.
  • Defines, estimates and secures resources needed to achieve project goals. Integrates sound cost estimating practices into project plans.
  • Prepares budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes to meet changing requirements, where necessary.
  • Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using formal processes and appropriate tools, such as project management software.
  • Tracks project progress, milestones and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met appropriately.
  • Assesses project issues and identifies solutions to meet project goals.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identifies potential crises and develop contingency plans.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk on projects. Issues stop-work order when adverse risk is identified.
  • Solves technical and non-technical problems throughout the life of the project.
  • Presents reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
  • Coordinates with other organizations to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Ensures project-related documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Oversees and coordinates work performed by outside contractors.
  • Assigns responsibilities and provides direction and support to project team.
  • Conducts effective performance evaluations and mentors those with less experience.
  • Works collaboratively with staff to maintain thorough knowledge of project status and ensure communications are precise.
  • Ensures qualified experienced personnel, including contractor personnel are assigned to the project.
  • Negotiates and implements pre-contract agreements prior to the issue and approval of formal contact documents. Implements post contract settlements with contractors at the end of the project.
  • Interfaces with external customers, news media, attorneys, and elected officials over issues that are potentially sensitive in nature requiring communication in a tactful and sensitive manner.
  • Ensures projects are consistent with project management strategy/policies and in accordance with Federal, state and local regulations.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (electrical preferred). May consider an electrical technician based on experience level.
  • Project Management (5 years or greater). Transmission/Grid experience preferred(transmission lines, substations, telecom). Specialized in-depth knowledge of project management techniques, experience to resolve in-depth problems, and practical experience in project scoping and cost estimating. Ability to look beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems.
