Job Description
CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Group. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to apply their engineering skills to innovative, sustainable water and wastewater projects while building their technical expertise and career alongside experienced professionals.
In this role, you will support the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure. Under direct supervision, you will help develop designs that meet client requirements and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Your responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting site assessments, engineering studies, and design development.
  • Assisting with water quality analyses, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and design calculations.
  • Adjusting design parameters based on site conditions, project requirements, and engineering analyses.
  • Preparing technical reports, calculations, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Developing presentations and other materials for client meetings and industry conferences.
  • Using engineering and design tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other industry software.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Participating in fieldwork and construction management activities, providing exposure to projects throughout the full project lifecycle.

This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across planning, design, construction, and project delivery while developing the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in the water industry.
Skills & Abilities
Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good verbal and written communication ability.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
