We have an immediate opening for a mid-level Environmental Engineer/ Scientist/ Geologist in our Olympia, Washington office, however remote work for locations across Washington state is an option. Responsibilities

  • Scope, coordinate, and manage fieldwork to support environmental assessment, remediation, and restoration projects. This position may include supervision and occasional participation in fieldwork involving the collection of groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water samples.
  • Oversee ongoing operation, maintenance, and monitoring of remediation/mitigations systems for soil and groundwater.
  • Develop and track project budgets.
  • Prepare high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals with minimal senior GSI staff oversight.
  • Regularly interact with senior GSI staff, clients, and regulators to communicate project status.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and analytical laboratories and independently perform subcontractor oversight.
  • Manage, analyze, and interpret environmental data using statistical and data visualization tools.
  • Perform and oversee production and QA/QC of data tables, maps, reports, and other work products.
  • Independently perform research tasks with input from senior staff and technical experts.
  • Assist in management and training of junior-level technical staff.
  • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere through collaboration with technical experts, project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in the Geosciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field is required; a Masterโ€™s degree is preferred.
  • At least 6 to 8 years of relevant professional work experience is preferred.
  • If applicable, certifications such as Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT) are required at a minimum.
  • Required skills and qualifications include:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and background in data analysis, programming skills in R and/or Python a plus
  • An interest in leveraging automated workflows and data science tools
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize complex datasets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and clear driving record
  • Ability to travel domestically to perform work
  • Additional preferred skillsets and qualifications include:
  • Working knowledge of Washington state and federal environmental cleanup regulations is preferred
  • Experience using ArcGIS
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and clear driving record required.
  • Ability/willingness to travel

The salary range for a mid-level candidate is $90,000 โ€“ 130,000 per year. The exact base salary for this position will be determined by the candidateโ€™s geographic location, education, relevant degree, related experience, and overall qualifications.
