Software Engineer, Senior
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cyber Operations Engineer to design, build, and field deployment ready technical capabilities in complex operational environments. This role blends software engineering with hands-on technical operations, including hardware integration, network configuration, virtualization, and system troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate is a builder and operator, someone who can move from writing production code, to configuring lab hardware, to diagnosing network and VM issues in the same day. You are comfortable working in ambiguity, rapidly prototyping solutions, and translating client needs into secure, practical technical outcomes.
In this role, you will help shape and deliver capabilities across software, physical test environments, embedded systems, industrial and IoT technologies, and field-deployed infrastructure. You will work closely with customers, engineers, and client stakeholders to develop resilient solutions that perform in lab, range, and real-world conditions.
This is a hands-on position for a senior technologist who thrives at the intersection of engineering rigor and operational execution.
What You'll Work On:
  • Lead architecture, design, development, and deployment of secure, production-grade software capabilities.
  • Build software in languages such as Python, Go, Node.js, or C# across front-end, back-end, and integration layers.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot physical and virtualized environments, including servers, endpoints, networking gear, and embedded devices.
  • Integrate software with hardware systems, sensors, radios, industrial equipment, IoT, and edge technologies.
  • Stand up and manage VMs, containers, and lab infrastructure to support development, testing, and operational demonstrations.
  • Design and implement APIs, distributed services, and system-to-system integrations.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure development practices to enable reliable delivery.
  • Conduct technical reviews and communicate design decisions, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to reusable patterns, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Support field testing, customer engagements, and technical demonstrations.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and rapidly evaluate their operational relevance.
  • Travel as needed to support customer sites, labs, and field activities.

You Have:
  • 10+ years of experience with software engineering, systems engineering, or cyber operations
  • 10+ years of experience designing, building, deploying, and sustaining production software systems
  • Experience with one or more languages such as Python, Go, Node.js, C#, Java, or C++
  • Experience using generative AI and large language model tools to accelerate development, automate workflows, analyze information, or enhance software products
  • Experience troubleshooting across software, operating systems, networking, virtualization, and hardware
  • Experience configuring and managing virtualization and container platforms such as VMware, KVM, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Experience integrating software with physical devices, embedded systems, sensors, or industrial IoT equipment
  • Experience applying secure engineering practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, and logging
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or 14+ years of experience with software engineering in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience developing and fielding new products in research, prototype, operational, defense, or industrial environments
  • Experience conducting pen testing assessments or vulnerability research
  • Experience programming constrained platforms such as embedded systems, microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi-class devices, or edge computers
  • Experience with IoT architectures, device management, telemetry, sensor integration, and edge-to-cloud communications
  • Experience integrating radios, satellite communications, serial devices, field networks, or tactical communications equipment
  • Experience working with electrical components, wiring, power systems, instrumentation, or hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience designing and operating physical testbeds, laboratory environments, cyber ranges, or field demonstrations
  • Experience applying large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, computer vision, or machine learning to operational use cases
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, zero trust architectures, secure software development frameworks, and relevant cybersecurity standards
  • TS/SCI clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
