The Opportunity

We're hiring an Engineering Manager, AI Engineering to lead our AI Engineering team. This team is responsible for building and operating the intelligence layer that powers Procurify's platform, leveraging Generative AI, Machine Learning, LLMs, and agentic systems to help customers automate workflows, uncover insights, and make more effective spending decisions.

This is a player-coach leadership role. You'll lead a team of AI Engineers while remaining deeply involved in technical strategy, architecture, prototyping, and critical implementation decisions. You'll balance people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, helping shape both our AI platform and the next generation of AI-powered customer experiences.

You'll work closely with Product, Design, Platform Engineering, Security, and Engineering leadership to define and execute Procurify's AI strategy while building a highly engaged, high-performing team. You value accountability, technical excellence, and know how to balance long-term vision with pragmatic execution.

WHAT YOU'LL DOLead & Mentor
  • Manage a team of AI Engineers, providing coaching for technical excellence, fostering individual career growth, and nurturing a high-performance culture built on trust, ownership, experimentation, and collaboration.

Lead Through Technical Contribution
  • Serve as a player-coach by actively participating in architecture reviews, technical design, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, and critical implementation efforts. Maintain technical credibility through active engagement with the team's work and technical direction.

Drive AI Product Delivery
  • Lead your team to consistently deliver high-impact AI-powered products and platform capabilities. You'll define success metrics, track progress transparently, and proactively communicate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and business impact.

Shape AI Architecture & Technical Vision
  • Lead the technical strategy for AI Engineering by partnering with key stakeholders across Product, Platform, and Security to align our technical investments with business goals. By building foundational platforms rather, you will define the architectural standards and guardrails that empower our team to innovate at speed and scale agentic workflows, RAG systems, and LLM-powered features. Your focus includes:

    • LLM-powered applications

    • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems

    • Agentic workflows and orchestration

    • Prompt and context engineering frameworks

    • AI evaluation systems

    • AI observability and monitoring

    • Responsible AI and governance practices

Build Production-Grade AI Systems
  • Guide the design, development, deployment, and operation of AI services and infrastructure, including:

  • LLM and model integrations

  • Knowledge retrieval systems

  • AI orchestration platforms

  • Agent frameworks

  • Evaluation and testing frameworks

  • AI monitoring and feedback loops

Balance Innovation & Execution
  • Think strategically to balance experimentation, technical debt reduction, platform investments, and product delivery. Help the organization move quickly while maintaining engineering quality and operational excellence.

Grow Our Engineering Culture
  • Work with Engineering leadership to evolve Procurify's engineering culture, championing technical excellence, responsible innovation, continuous learning, and disciplined execution.

Collaborate Broadly
  • Work closely with partners across the organization—including Security, Platform Engineering, Product, Design and Customer teams—to deliver robust, trustworthy, and compliant AI solutions.

What You Bring

Required

Proven Leadership: 8+ years of software engineering experience. 3+ years leading software engineering teams. 3-5+ years building and deploying AI-powered products or platforms in production environments. Demonstrated success operating as a technical leader in a player-coach capacity.

AI Engineering Expertise Strong hands-on experience building and operating:

  • LLM-powered applications

  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems

  • Agentic AI workflows

  • AI orchestration frameworks

  • AI evaluation and monitoring systems

  • Production machine learning services

Modern AI Platform Experience

Experience working with technologies such as:

  • Python

  • Azure OpenAI and/or AWS Bedrock

  • Databricks

  • Kubernetes

  • Vector databases

  • LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar orchestration frameworks

  • ML/LLMOps tooling

Architectural Acumen: Proven ability to architect and scale distributed systems, AI platforms, and customer-facing software products. You have a track record of navigating technical complexity while making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, reliability, maintainability, and cost.

AI Product Mindset: Experience translating ambiguous business problems into AI-enabled products that deliver measurable customer value.

Empathetic & Accountable: A self-driven, accountable leader who thrives in an autonomous, fast-paced environment and leads with empathy, compassion, and a people-first approach.

Exceptional Communicator: You excel at communicating complex technical concepts, AI capabilities, risks, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Modern AI Experience: Deep understanding of modern AI technologies including:

  • Generative AI

  • Large Language Models

  • Retrieval systems

  • Agentic architectures

  • AI safety and governance considerations

Preferred

FinTech or B2B SaaS Experience: A strong interest or background in the FinTech ecosystem. Direct experience building AI-powered products in a B2B SaaS environment is highly desirable.

Agile & DevOps Mindset: Strong knowledge of agile development practices, CI/CD, test automation, observability, and modern software delivery practices.

AI Platform & LLMOps Experience: Experience building workflow orchestration systems, durable async programming, intent detection, AI platforms, evaluation frameworks, model governance, processes, or AI developer tooling.
