Job description

About Us
Phare Health is now part of R1 and its AI innovation engine, R37 Lab, bringing Phare's frontier clinical reasoning technology together with one of the largest healthcare platforms in the U.S.
At R37 and Phare, we are building the first AI-native Healthcare Revenue Operating System: a connected platform that reasons over full medical records, payer logic, and financial workflows to automate medical coding, billing, and follow-up.
Backed by real customers, real data, and real distribution, we operate on a national scale. Our agentic AI systems already power production workflows across 95 of the top 100 U.S. health systems, processing hundreds of millions of patient encounters each year, including:
  • 180M+ Claims
  • 550M+ Patient encounters
  • 1.2B+ Workflow actions and outcomes each year

This is startup-level ownership with enterprise-level impact. If you want to build AI that ships, scales, and measurably improves how healthcare works, this is the place to do it.
The Role
  • Lead and Support Teams: Lead a team of AI/ML, data, and full-stack engineers to deliver AI-native products. Define the organizational structure and necessary functions and cultivate a high-performing team through effective recruitment, mentorship, and retention strategies
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Work closely with product, engineering, AI research, and data science teams to define strategic goals and establish a roadmap for AI product development. Play a key role in hiring, recruiting, and onboarding new talent
  • Drive Innovation: Spearhead innovation in 0->1 product areas by exploring and implementing new AI/ML technologies and techniques to enhance user experience
  • Agile Methodologies and DevOps Practices: Champion agile methodologies and DevOps best practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence and efficient software delivery and release
  • Foster a Diverse and Inclusive Culture: Contribute to building a diverse and inclusive team and culture. Support initiatives through hiring, community events, and other programs. Collaborate with teams across R37 to enhance mentoring and development efforts

About You
  • 3+ years of experience hiring and leading teams as an engineering manager; with expertise in recruiting exceptional talent to build high-performing teams that deliver outcome-driven solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience leading teams building products such as Search, Ranking, or generative AI products at a significant scale
  • Excitement and curiosity for 0->1 product development with a track record of crafting fast-moving organizations that turn innovative ideas into successful products
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Kotlin, or C#
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Healthcare or Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience is highly preferred but not required.
