IMEG is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer to provide leadership in bridge maintenance engineering, bridge inspection programs, asset management and contract administration.
You will oversee complex bridge maintenance operations, manage client relationships, and provide technical guidance for bridge inspection and maintenance activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The Senior Bridge Engineer serves as a technical authority and project leader, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of bridge infrastructure.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage bridge inspection projects.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and quality assurance of bridge inspection programs in compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
  • Provide technical leadership for the inspection and evaluation of fixed and movable bridges.
  • Manage Asset Maintenance Contracts, including contract administration, performance monitoring, budgeting, scheduling, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary client representative, maintaining effective communication and developing long-term relationships with agency personnel and stakeholders.
  • Review engineering analyses, inspection reports, maintenance recommendations, and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Develop maintenance plans and asset management strategies to maximize bridge performance and lifecycle value.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering and inspection staff, providing technical guidance and professional development.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and consultants to successfully deliver maintenance and inspection services.
  • Ensure compliance with FDOT requirements, NBIS regulations, OSHA safety standards, and applicable engineering codes and specifications.
  • Support business development efforts by participating in proposal preparation, technical presentations, and client meetings.
  • Provide engineering judgment for emergency response, structural evaluations, and maintenance planning.

What You'll Bring
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 14 years of progressively responsible experience in bridge maintenance operations.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
  • Demonstrated experience managing Asset Maintenance Contracts for transportation infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience performing and overseeing movable bridge inspections.
  • Proven experience serving as the primary interface with public agency clients, including executive-level communication and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge maintenance practices, structural evaluation, rehabilitation planning, and inspection procedures.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of bridge maintenance engineering principles and practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NBIS requirements and bridge inspection methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and review complex engineering reports and technical documentation.
