About the roleYou'll design and ship core pieces of a real-time voice AI platform that practices depend on every minute their phones ring - conversation orchestration, scheduling logic, and the infrastructure that keeps it all reliable. Small team, big surface area: you'll own problems end-to-end and see your work answer real patients' calls within weeks, not quarters.
What you'll do- Design and build scalable services for our conversational agent platform - from the real-time voice pipeline to scheduling and routing logic
- Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, tests, deployment, monitoring
- Develop production-grade software that meets HIPAA and healthcare security standards
- Raise the engineering bar through code review and design feedback
- Debug production issues in a system where reliability directly affects patient access
- Participate in the on-call rotation and mentor other engineers
LocationRemote (US). If you're in the Birmingham, AL area, this role is hybrid from our office (3 days in office / 2 remote).
Requirements- 5+ years building production backend or distributed systems
- Proficiency in a modern backend stack (e.g., Python or TypeScript)
- Comfort with rapid iteration, ambiguity, and wearing multiple hats
- Strong communication and a track record of mentoring
Nice to have- Real-time systems, voice/telephony, or LLM-based product experience
- Experience in HIPAA-regulated or other compliance-heavy environments
