Job Title:Energy Delivery & Utilization Applications EngineerLocation:Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, EI - Canada Home Office, Knoxville, TN, Palo Alto, CA, Remote/Home Based, Washington, D.C.Job Summary and Description:

EPRI's Applications team is looking for a versatile, collaborative engineer to join our group. You will help lead EPRI's efforts to apply cutting-edge technology and subject matter expertise to client-specific challenges in grid planning and operations, distributed energy resources, electric transportation, and other end-use technologies.

Our team develops actionable insights regarding the impact and capabilities of new technologies through utility-driven demonstrations and cross-cutting projects. We collaborate with experts across EPRI to produce deliverables focused on individual member needs - executed within shorter time frames and aimed at answering nearer-term research questions. This is a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment where you'll take ownership of projects and client relationships early in your career.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead projects end-to-end - from scoping and design through execution and delivery, taking ownership of project direction and client outcomes

  • Design experiments for new technologies in both the laboratory and field

  • Solve systems integration challenges with utilities, manufacturers, and other research organizations

  • Apply the latest techniques in data analytics, machine learning, and advanced visualization to communicate results to a wide range of audiences

  • Engage directly with EPRI members - support business development efforts and build lasting client relationships

  • Present research findings to members and the broader scientific and engineering community through meetings, conferences, and publications

  • Periodic travel to member locations, meetings, and conferences for research and technology transfer

What We're Looking For:

  • Project leadership - ability to lead projects in new and unfamiliar spaces, think critically about what comes next, and get up to speed quickly

  • Technical background in power systems, power electronics, or emerging energy technologies

  • Versatility and adaptability - comfort working across a wide range of technical domains

  • Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset

  • Interest or aptitude in business development and client engagement

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) for data analytics, automation, or simulation

  • Consulting-type experience (designing studies, managing client deliverables) is a plus

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 4-6 years of relevant professional experience

  • Master's degree in a technical field with 2-5 years of relevant professional experience

  • PhD in a technical field with 0-3 years of relevant professional experience

  • Final level and compensation will be determined based on education and experience

Location:

  • Position open to candidates based in the US or Canada; preferred placement in an EPRI office (relocation benefits available)

  • Remote work considered for the right candidate

The salary range for this position is $98,000 USD to $113,500 USD annually.This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
