The Senior Consultant plays a critical leadership role on client engagements, serving as the project manager and primary driver of execution from kickoff through completion. This individual is responsible for ensuring successful delivery against project scope, timelines, and client expectations, while maintaining FMI's high standards of quality and impact.

This is a full-time opportunity based in our Denver, CO office; however, we are also open to exceptional candidates who can be based out of one of our other offices in Tampa, FL, Houston, TX, or fully remote. Travel requirements may reach up to 75%, depending on client needs.

All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage client engagements from initial scoping through final delivery and potential renewal, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, budgets, and FMI quality standards
  • Develop and execute project plans, including defining team roles, establishing communication cadences, and driving accountability for key milestones and deliverables
  • Oversee and mentor project teams by delegating work effectively, monitoring performance and level of effort, and providing ongoing coaching and actionable feedback
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and engaging confidently with senior and executive-level stakeholders through meetings, presentations, and workshops
  • Facilitate clear, proactive communication across clients, internal teams, and FMI leadership to ensure alignment, manage expectations, and address challenges as they arise
  • Identify client needs and opportunities to expand FMI's services, contributing to business development efforts including proposal support, contract renewals, and broader practice growth initiatives
  • Contribute to the growth of the Energy & Power practice and broader firm by developing tools, frameworks, and collateral; participating in speaking engagements, publications, and FMI programs; and demonstrating a strong understanding of FMI's full suite of services to support client needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; master's degree preferred
  • 5-8 years of consulting experience within the energy and power industry
  • Experience with major capital projects (e.g., generation, transmission & distribution, gas transmission, data centers) preferred
  • Proven project management experience, including leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing others
