Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets, this role provides expert analysis and market insight to support Capital Power's investment, asset management, commercial, and trading decisions. This role is accountable for market price forecasts, asset gross margin projections, and strategic market assessments across assigned North

You Will Contribute to Our Team By:

  • Owning longterm fundamental power market forecasts (energy, capacity, ancillary services, and environmental products) for assigned regions.

  • Reviewing, developing, and defending key market assumptions including supply, demand, fuel prices, emissions pricing, policy impacts, and cost of new entry (CONE).

  • Leading assetlevel gross margin projections, dispatch modeling, and financial proformas to support budgeting, longterm planning, and project valuations.

  • Supporting business development and expansion initiatives by delivering price forecasts, dispatch analysis, and due diligence assessments for new investments.

  • Providing strategic market insights to Commercial and Supply & Trading teams to support origination, hedging, and contracting strategies.

  • Managing external consultants, including scope definition, assumption review, quality control, and interpretation of results.

  • Preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to cross-functional teams, senior management and executive teams on market outlooks, risks, and opportunities.

  • Monitoring regulatory, policy, and market design developments, assessing their commercial, financial impacts and incorporating their implications into price projections.

  • Designing and implementing market dashboards for consumption across the company.

  • American power markets. The Senior Specialist leads modeling efforts, directs consultant/internal work, and delivers clear, decisionready recommendations to senior leadership.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commerce.

  • Master's degree or professional designation (or progress toward one) is an asset.

  • 5+ years of experience in North American power and gas markets.

  • Demonstrated experience forecasting wholesale electricity prices and asset revenues.

  • Proven ability to translate complex market dynamics into actionable business recommendations.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Advanced quantitative and financial modeling skills (CONE, LCOE, dispatch, gross margin).

  • Strong understanding of power market structures and regulatory frameworks.

  • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and exercise sound judgment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executivelevel presentations.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Python and data analysis tools; exposure to market models is an asset.
