Job description

Citi is looking for a Senior Associate to join its Emerging Markets FX and Rates Research Strategy team, where you will develop and deliver macro and quantitative research covering Latin American foreign exchange and rates markets. In this role, you will shape market views that directly inform clients and internal stakeholders across one of the world's leading global banks. Your analysis, models, and written research will carry real influence across trading, sales, and client-facing teams at a global scale.

Responsibilities Produce original FX and rates research and strategy covering Latin American emerging markets, translating macroeconomic developments into actionable investment views. Build and maintain quantitative models to analyze currency and rates dynamics across LATAM economies, ensuring analytical rigor and relevance to live market conditions. Interpret and synthesize complex, multi-source data to form well-reasoned strategic conclusions with meaningful market impact.

Communicate research findings clearly and persuasively to both internal partners and external clients through written publications and direct engagement. Monitor economic data releases, central bank communications, and policy developments across LATAM to inform timely and differentiated research output. Contribute to workflow improvements and the development of new analytical techniques within the research function.

Required Qualifications & Skills 5 to 8 years of experience in macro research, FX and rates strategy, or a related capital markets function, with demonstrable depth in emerging markets analysis. Degree in Economics or a closely related quantitative discipline, providing the analytical foundation for macro and market research. Demonstrable quantitative skills with the ability to construct and interpret economic and financial models used in FX and rates analysis.

Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex research to diverse audiences. Ability to evaluate competing analytical frameworks and make well-supported strategic recommendations under conditions of uncertainty. Experience operating within cross-functional teams and, where appropriate, taking an informal leadership role to advance shared research objectives.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications Fluency in Spanish, enabling deeper engagement with LATAM market participants, policymakers, and local-language sources.
