What is a remote embedded software engineer?

A remote embedded software engineer is a professional who designs, develops, tests, and maintains software that runs on embedded systems, such as microcontrollers or specialized hardware, while working from a location outside the traditional office environment. These engineers typically collaborate with hardware teams, write code for real-time or resource-constrained systems, and use remote tools to debug and deploy software. They may work in industries like automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics, or industrial automation. Remote embedded software engineers rely on communication and project management tools to coordinate with their teams and ensure product quality.

What are remote embedded software jobs?

Remote embedded software jobs include embedded software engineer positions. As a work from home embedded software engineer, you develop embedded software systems for a variety of computerized devices. Your responsibilities start with assessing your client’s needs. You then design and code the embedded software, troubleshoot your software systems, perform research and test actions on the software, and implement software updates whenever necessary. Other duties include maintaining the software programs, documenting solutions to issues, providing the necessary post-production support, and reviewing the implemented system to debug the embedded environment and interpret error reports.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote embedded software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Embedded Software Engineer, you need expertise in embedded systems programming (typically in C/C++), hardware interfacing, and a relevant degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering. Familiarity with development tools such as debuggers, version control systems (e.g., Git), and real-time operating systems (RTOS) is commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills help you excel in a distributed team environment. These skills ensure reliable software integration with hardware, efficient collaboration, and successful delivery of complex embedded solutions.

What are some common challenges faced by remote embedded software engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote embedded software engineers often face challenges such as limited access to physical hardware for testing, coordinating with hardware teams across locations, and ensuring clear communication about design specifications. To overcome these, teams typically use simulation tools, remote access labs, and detailed documentation. Regular virtual meetings and collaborative platforms also help maintain alignment and facilitate troubleshooting in distributed environments.

Job description

Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Software Engineer - Web3 - this is a fully remote role for N America based candidates. Salary range: 150-250K USD base plus benefits.

We are building the future of money movement.

As payments, financial markets, and digital assets move onchain, stablecoins are rapidly becoming the foundation of the global financial system. Yet today, moving stablecoins across blockchains, liquidity sources, and financial applications remains fragmented, inefficient, and complex.

We solve this problem.

We are the platform leading companies use to program stablecoin flows at scale. We provide the infrastructure that allows businesses to move capital seamlessly across networks and dynamic markets with the speed, reliability, and execution guarantees they demand.

Think of us as the operating system for programmable money.

The scale of the opportunity is enormous. Every payment, treasury operation, settlement flow, trading strategy, AI agent, and financial application that operates onchain will need capital to move intelligently between networks and markets. We believe we will become the critical layer that makes this possible.

That's why some of the most ambitious companies in crypto trust us to power their money movement.

Joining us means working on some of the hardest and most important problems in financial technology alongside a team that moves fast, thinks big, and executes at an exceptionally high level.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to help define a new category of financial infrastructure

  • An incredibly ambitious roadmap tackling problems at massive scale

  • Ownership and responsibility from day one, with the autonomy to make a real impact

  • A world-class team of builders, engineers, and operators

  • A culture that is demanding, collaborative, and deeply supportive

  • The chance to work on genuinely new technology with global significance

If you're looking for a role where you can have outsized impact, solve complex technical challenges, and help build the foundation for the next generation of global finance, you'll find it at us.

In other words, this is both the opportunity and the expectation to do the best work of your career.
As a Software Engineer, you will:

  • Deliver new chain integrations and partner features across the full stack — smart contracts, distributed systems, and the services that connect them

  • Write production smart contracts across multiple virtual machines (EVM, SVM, TVM, and emerging alt-VMs)

  • Own features end-to-end: design, build, test, ship, and operate them in production

  • Review code and partner on technical design with a senior, distributed team

  • Work directly against partner-driven deadlines that are visible to the CEO and external partners on day one

We're looking for you if:

  • You have 2–3+ years of production experience in web3 (depth matters more than years)

  • You've shipped smart contracts in production on multiple VMs — EVM is table stakes; SVM, TVM, or alt-VMs is what we want

  • You're strong in TypeScript and Rust, and comfortable across both contract code and the services around it

  • You've operated production distributed systems on Kubernetes, AWS, and Docker

  • You thrive in high-pressure, high-visibility environments and have a track record of hitting external deadlines

  • You write clearly and asynchronously — we're a distributed team and good written communication is non-negotiable

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with cross-chain protocols (LayerZero, bridges, intent systems)

  • Experience launching or integrating a new chain end-to-end

  • Open-source contributions to relevant protocols

  • Familiarity with solver- or intent-based architectures

Compensation & Package
  • Fully remote organization that allows you to work anywhere in the US, Canada, or North American time zones

  • 100% employer-sponsored medical, vision and dental coverage for you, your spouse and your dependents

  • Unlimited vacation and flexible work culture

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • Work-from-home stipend, monthly wellness allowance, and annual learning & development allowance

  • Annual company retreats and regular co-working opportunities in different cities throughout North America.
