Validation Engineer

What You'll Achieve

As a Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and support of automation software used to configure, validate, audit, and collect asset information during the manufacturing and deployment of Dell enterprise rack-based offerings. You will work with cross-functional teams - including Marketing, Architecture, System Engineering, Sales, Support, Integration, and Validation - on cloud computing rack-based solutions in a fast-paced, "start-up" environment .

You will:

  • Lead the integration of several software tool suites used for system configuration, system updates, system management, and integration validation.
  • Develop Linux shell scripts, Perl, and Python packages to support testing and deployment activities across different environments.
  • Collaborate with Dell Product Group to streamline the delivery of packaged VMware-based appliances into GSP-RI rack-based offerings.
  • Support sample demand builds and coordinate priorities across all GSP-RI business bases, including performing system concept evaluations, proof-of-concept builds, performance benchmarking, power measurements, and stress-testing.
  • Help expand GIS-RI technology acceptance both within and beyond the existing customer base by creating products that integrate into customer environments and can be deployed, updated, and managed seamlessly.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong experience in embedded development of server control and management systems, with deep understanding of Linux and strong working knowledge of BIOS/BMC firmware.
  • Fluency in modern networking technology: 400/100Gb, Mellanox InfiniBand, Cisco Nexus, Arista, SFP+ Twinax, Fiber optics, and Dell Networking.
  • Deep understanding of Dell Enterprise server and storage technology, including PowerEdge and PE-C server platforms, server BIOS and BMC/iDRAC, switches, PDUs, and serial aggregators.
  • Knowledge of IPMI standards and industry-standard system management console solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud/big data software stack models and experience with provisioning and deployment of open-standard software stacks.
  • Thorough understanding of RedHat and Ubuntu Linux distributions and applicability of Linux-based solutions on enterprise-class dense and traditional server platforms.
  • Deployment and provisioning experience with Linux and Windows OS, software stacks, and virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Strong understanding of relational database management systems (MySQL/Postgres) and management of database servers across multiple global integrator sites.
  • Strong ability in organizing and managing multiple projects, tasks, and changing priorities while working independently under aggressive timelines.
  • Ability to write and analyze requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and other technical documentation.
  • Working ability to drive cross-functional development efforts through conception, planning, implementation, and sustaining.

Desirable Requirements

  • Eight+ years of experience with a BSCE, BSCS, or equivalent degree.
  • Thorough understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products, and competitors' offerings, along with working insight and skill to effectively manage cultural differences.

The salary range for this position is $134,400 to $184,800.
