Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join our Preconstruction department based in Southfield, Michigan. This position can be remote and will support projects company wide. This individual can be an established and experienced electrical estimator or an engineer with at least 3 years of facility design and/or experience who is willing to develop as a electrical engineer/estimator. This individual will gain both office and jobsite experience to help them become proficient in performing electrical design and estimating for large industrial, commercial, and institutional construction projects.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform take-off and pricing for medium voltage and low voltage electrical power systems design, lighting systems design, and low voltage systems.
  • Perform estimates at different levels including 30/60/90% construction documents.
  • Provide general support to Barton Malow's field operations by reviewing field change orders and assisting in answering contractors' request for information.
  • Support the preconstruction team in the bidding process for the different procurement methods including general contracts, design-build, EPC, and construction management.
  • Provide technical support for resolution and tracking of project issues.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Individuals without an engineering degree are also encouraged to apply for this position if through their experience and training can work on design/build projects and be able to generate estimates at conceptual level.
  • Minimum of 3 years of design and construction experience.
  • Prior knowledge of Microsoft programs is essential.
  • Prior knowledge of "on screen" take off and Revit modeling is a plus.
  • Prior working knowledge and proficiency in BlueBeam and Accubid is a plus.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with national electrical engineering firms and electrical contractors.
  • Knowledge of utility high voltage substations and utility switch yards design is an advantage.
  • Experience with Renewable and/or Industrial projects is an advantage.
