The Position 

Shermco Systems Integration is seeking an Electrical Designer, which will be responsible for design of facilities, including power distribution and controls design in a competitive and engaging environment utilizing industry standard CAD and power studies software.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities: 

Safety: 

  • Establish/Maintain behaviors that demonstrate Safety as a Personal Core Value  

Design and Development: 

  • Design and develop control systems for various applications, including automation, semiconductor, and industrial processes. 
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.  

Arc Flash Studies: 

  • Conduct arc flash studies to identify potential hazards in electrical systems.  
  • Calculate incident energy at various points in the electrical system to determine the severity of potential arc flashes.  
  • Determine arc flash boundaries and hazard risk categories to establish safe working distances and procedures. 
  • Document findings, create one-line diagrams, and maintain records of arc flash studies and related activities 

Installation Support: 

  • Provide assistance in the installation of equipment and systems. 
Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or Power Study Software familiarity of any of the following is required: 
  • AutoCAD 
  • Revit 
  • SKM 
  • Microsoft Office 
  • Electrical Engineering degree or other Engineering degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred. 
  • 2+ year industrial experience preferred. 
  • Power and Controls experience preferred. 
  • Capability to read electrical schematics, layouts and grid plans for pump stations and compressor facilities. 
  • Capability to learn to develop effective, safe electrical diagrams. 
  • Ability to work safely, and an eagerness to contribute to a safety-focused team. 
  • Industry experience preferred: 
  • Semiconductor, Oil and Gas, Utilities, Agriculture, Metals, Mining, Paper, Data Centers, Health Care, Food and beverage 
  • Must be flexible and willing to work out-of-town with occasional overnight travel 

Other Requirements: 

  • Strong preference for individuals who are able and willing to demonstrate their personal commitment to Safety. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations 
  • Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests. 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and currently have (and be able to maintain) a good driving record.
