What is a Remote Electric Utility Groundman?

A Remote Electric Utility Groundman is an entry-level worker in the electric utility industry who assists linemen and other crew members with tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of power lines and electrical systems. Working remotely means they may be based in various locations or support utility operations in rural or hard-to-reach areas. Their duties often include handling tools, maintaining equipment, preparing job sites, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role is essential for supporting the crew and ensuring electrical systems operate reliably and safely. Groundmen receive on-the-job training and may use this position as a stepping stone to become a lineman.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Electric Utility Groundmen, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Electric Utility Groundmen often work in geographically dispersed locations, which can make communication and coordination with the rest of the crew more challenging.
