Remote Ediscovery information

What is a remote ediscovery professional?

A Remote Ediscovery professional is someone who manages the identification, collection, processing, and analysis of electronic data for legal cases, all while working from a remote location. These professionals support law firms, corporations, or government agencies in handling electronically stored information (ESI) relevant to litigation, investigations, or regulatory matters. Their work often involves using specialized software to organize, review, and produce digital evidence, ensuring compliance with legal standards and data privacy laws.

What are the qualifications to get a remote ediscovery job?

Required qualifications depend in part on the particular eDiscovery position. Those working as discovery analysts need at least a bachelor’s degree, but a graduate degree is beneficial. Necessary skills include strong logic, analytical, and communication skills. eDiscovery project managers need a bachelor’s degree and prior experience in the legal field, especially as related to eDiscovery. An associate consultant may need advanced legal or technical certifications or education. Employers prefer applicants with prior experience, familiarity with various email archive platforms, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote ediscovery specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ediscovery Specialist, you need a solid understanding of electronic discovery processes, legal procedures, and data management, usually supported by a degree in law, information technology, or a related field. Familiarity with eDiscovery platforms (such as Relativity or Logikcull), document review software, and certifications like CEDS (Certified E-Discovery Specialist) are often required. Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and clear communication skills are vital for success in a remote environment. These competencies ensure accurate, efficient handling of sensitive legal data, compliance with regulations, and effective collaboration with legal teams.

What are the typical collaboration challenges faced by remote ediscovery professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Remote eDiscovery professionals often collaborate with legal teams, IT staff, and external vendors across different locations and time zones. Common challenges include coordinating workflows, maintaining secure and efficient communication, and ensuring the integrity of sensitive data. These can be addressed by using secure project management platforms, establishing clear protocols for information sharing, and scheduling regular virtual check-ins to keep all stakeholders aligned. Adapting to these practices helps foster teamwork and ensures a smooth eDiscovery process even in a fully remote setting.

What is the difference between Remote Ediscovery vs Remote Litigation Support Specialist?

AspectRemote EdiscoveryRemote Litigation Support Specialist
CredentialsLegal or IT certifications, e.g., Certified Ediscovery Specialist (CEDS)Legal or IT certifications, e.g., Certified Litigation Support Professional (CLSP)
Work EnvironmentLegal firms, e-discovery vendors, corporate legal departmentsLaw firms, courts, legal departments, e-discovery vendors
Industry UsagePrimarily in legal and e-discovery sectorsLegal industry, litigation support services

Remote Ediscovery focuses on managing electronic data for legal cases, including data collection, review, and production. Remote Litigation Support Specialists assist with case preparation, document management, and trial support. While both roles involve legal data, Ediscovery is more specialized in electronic data processing, whereas Litigation Support covers broader case support tasks.

Is remote ediscovery a good career?

Remote ediscovery is a growing field within legal and technology sectors, involving the identification, collection, and review of electronic data for legal cases. It offers flexibility, demand for specialized skills like data analysis and familiarity with ediscovery tools, and opportunities for career advancement. However, success depends on technical proficiency, attention to detail, and understanding of legal processes.

Job description

Syllo is on a mission to transform litigation. Our product is an AI-powered litigation workspace that enables lawyers and paralegals to safely harness the power of language models throughout the litigation life cycle. Since going to market, we have gained a diverse group of enterprise customers, including some of the biggest law firms and corporate legal departments in the country, and we are quickly expanding.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-energy, technically-minded Sales Solutions Architect to join our growth team. In this role, you will be the technical face of Syllo, partnering closely with our Sales team to win over the country's most sophisticated law firms and Fortune 500 legal departments. You aren't just a "demo driver" you are a strategic consultant who understands the nuances of litigation and can translate how our AI workspace solves the specific pain points of partners, General Counsel, and legal operations professionals.

As the bridge between our customers and our Product team, you will be responsible for proving our value through high-impact demos and Proof of Concepts (POCs). The ideal candidate loves the "aha!" moment when a client sees what AI can do for their practice and is equally comfortable diving into the "how" with IT and Security teams at both law firms and large corporations.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sales Engineering
  • Master the Demo: Lead high-impact technical demonstrations that showcase Syllo's AI capabilities, tailoring the narrative to the specific litigation workflows of law firms and in-house corporate legal teams.
  • Drive POCs to Success: Own the technical lifecycle of Proof of Concepts, setting clear success criteria, managing data ingestion, and ensuring stakeholders see measurable ROI in both firm billability and corporate efficiency.
  • Technical Discovery: Conduct deep-dive discovery sessions to uncover client technical requirements, security concerns, and existing software integrations (DMS, eDiscovery, and Enterprise Content Management tools).
The Product Bridge
  • Voice of the Customer: Act as a critical feedback loop, distilling insights from the field (especially the unique needs of corporate Legal Ops) into actionable requirements for our Product and Engineering teams.
  • Roadmap Alignment: Clearly communicate Syllo's product roadmap to prospects, managing expectations while building excitement for upcoming AI features.
  • Market Intelligence: Keep a pulse on the evolving Legal AI landscape to help position Syllo as the premier choice for enterprise litigation and corporate legal management.
Technical & Security Advocacy
  • Navigate Enterprise InfoSec: Lead technical conversations with law firm IT and Corporate Security/Compliance departments, confidently addressing questions on LLM data privacy, encryption, and SOC2 compliance.
  • Solution Scoping: Create technical proposals and "Statement of Work" documents that outline how Syllo will integrate into a client's specific tech stack.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or technical customer-facing role within a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Presentation Skills: Exceptional ability to present complex AI concepts to both law firm partners and Corporate General Counsel.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with LLM fundamentals (RAG, prompt engineering) and the ability to navigate API-driven integrations and cloud security protocols.
  • Domain Expertise (Preferred): Experience selling into or working within the legal industry, specifically with law firms or Corporate Legal Operations (LegalOps).
What Makes You a Great Fit?
  • You are a "Technical Storyteller": You don't just list features; you build a narrative around how AI changes a lawyer's daily life, whether they are in private practice or in-house.
  • You are Proactive & Autonomous: You thrive in the ambiguity of a startup and can manage multiple enterprise-grade POCs simultaneously.
  • You are a Collaborative Closer: You enjoy the thrill of the win and work seamlessly with Account Executives to move complex multi-stakeholder deals across the finish line.
  • You Value Asynchronous Excellence: As a remote company, you use tools like Slack, Loom, and Notion to keep the sales and product teams perfectly aligned.
Ready to Join Our Team?
  • Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 OTE (Base + Commission), plus equity
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); paid time off and company holidays

If you are a sales-minded architect who wants to be at the forefront of the AI revolution in law, we'd love to hear from you!
