Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Hybrid – 4 Days In Office

Position Overview

Direct Counsel is seeking two junior-level Contract Document Review Attorneys for an upcoming litigation document review project with a prestigious law firm in New York.

This is an excellent opportunity for New York-barred attorneys looking to gain additional hands-on litigation and document review experience in a sophisticated legal environment. The project is anticipated to last approximately 3–6 months, with the possibility of an extension based on project needs.

Candidates must be able to work four days per week onsite in the New York office. The project may require overtime and occasional weekend work, particularly during periods of increased review activity or approaching deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct first-level document review in connection with active litigation matters
  • Review documents for relevance, responsiveness, privilege, confidentiality, and other designated criteria
  • Code and categorize documents accurately using electronic document review platforms
  • Follow established review protocols and project-specific guidelines
  • Identify and escalate potentially privileged, sensitive, or significant documents
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and productivity throughout the review
  • Meet project deadlines and established review metrics
  • Work additional hours, including overtime and occasional weekends, as project demands require
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active and in-good-standing admission to the New York State Bar required
  • Prior litigation experience preferred
  • Prior document review or e-discovery experience is a must
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review large volumes of information accurately
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow detailed review protocols and maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be available to work onsite in New York four days per week
